Well, I'm all for it. You send them a question, they send you an answer & then you print it out so you can show it to everyone you play against. Sounds pretty easy. I'll wait to see how it plays out. Hopefully GW will keep things straight and use these Q&A for future FAQ's.

You know how easily an e-mail printout can be fabricated, right?

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity......

I had a friend call the rulesboyz for a dispute in WHFB that we had. The rulesboyz sided with him, twice. I showed him IN THE RULEBOOK where it said I was right and then pointed him to Dakka for the How To Have a Rules Debate article.

He now knows not to ask the rulesboyz for anything.

When this Roolzboyz malarkey first started, we were not allowed to answer call-in questions and had to refer them to said RBz. If it was was a slow night, we'd look up the correct answer and call the RBz to see what answer they gave. It was usually 60/40 in favor of the incorrect interpretation, depending on which RB you got. I'll be interested in the answers (and time to get it) that are received. Wasn't that the whole basis of the RBz? To get an answer to your in-game question?

Something that you need to realize is how the question is phrased. If you ask something like..a Space Marine has a 3 + save, you should get the correct answer.

I've seen someone call in and ask: If I roll a 1 on a plasma gun shot, and I fail my save, do I die instantly? The answer given was yes. The caller then snorted in his I'm superior way and sneered that the Rulesboy didn't know the rules, because failing that save does not cause Instant Death.

Yup.

You got an answer.

Just not necessarily the *correct* answer.

If I have to ask if a Space Marine has a 3+ save there are more serious problems that the Rulesboyz will be unable to help me with.

For the record, the question is if a unit is charged on the flank with two units that add up to unit strength 5 does that negate rank bonus. The rulebook is pretty clear that this is not the case but the RBz got it wrong... twice.

Subject: Drop Pods Firing on Turn of Arrival?

Can Space Marine Drop Pods fire on the turn they are placed on the table
(i.e. arrive via. deep strike)?

A White Dwarf Battle Report indicates they can, and it would seem this was
the intended effect, yet the rules interpreted literally seem to state
otherwise.

Subject: rules questions

Hello!
I would be grateful for an answer to these three questions:
1. Does an Ork Battlewagon with a Deff Rolla inflict d6 STR10 hits if it rams a vehicle?
No.
2. Is a unit which loses an assault and chooses to pass the morale check via God of War subject to No Retreat?
Yes.
3. Will the responses to #1 and #2 above be consistent from one emailer to the next?
Yes.

Thank you very much and I love your games!

Now everyone has to send in those questions, not all at once, but occasionally over the next couple of weeks. Maybe mix it up with some really obvious questions as well. Then we can all come back and see what answers we got.

I suggest one of you should start an article in which you can collect and organise the answers to your queries.

Who knows, it may become a useful resource if the replies do not contradict each other.

You mean, like for a FAQ?

Sorry for the snark, kill. It would be much easier if we had access to GW's question database.

It sounds like that's what they're trying to build. I sure hope so.

Not that I'm suggesting that anyone attach wires to their crotch, descend from a paneled
ceiling, and retrieve the necessary files from GW HQ. Oh no. Never that.

Collecting the emails and answers will show if they are consistent or not. Either way it will save users from emailing GW again.

I sincerely hope that they have some sort of internal wiki or if nothing else a spreadsheet on a shared drive where these are recorded.

Now if they were smart, they would track the frequency of each question and then [god forbid] publish those common queries on their website and in WD.

I am surprised that everyone thinks this move was to help build a database of questions, or something else to help out with future FAQs.

Coming from a customer service background, I saw it as a way to lower their call volume, and then being able to reduce staffing for cost savings.

Rather than dreaming, how about helping to test the new service, to help gauge the level of its usefulness for the community?

I got an email back today corroborating answers previously posted in the "You Make Da Call" forum. I'll send a few more, but eventually I'm going to run out of email accounts, and it would be useful to have other people corroborate as well.

Ask about whether Deff Rollas can be used when Ramming, if unit using God of War to pass a morale test is subject to No Retreat!, and a third random question to which the answer is obvious (checking not just consistency, but insight into the rules).
