That's only my metal ones. I haven't counted all my plastics in years...

I've probably been collecting longer than you, too.

In other news, Strategic Operations, the fourth CBT Core Rulebook, has been released early as an X-Mas present to the fans.

I got Heavy Metal Plus, and for some reason my computer won't recognize that there is content on the disc. I've tried it out on two other computers and the disc has worked fine on both.
*sigh*

I really don't see what the big deal with HMP is. There are better free programs out there that have a GUI designed by someone who wasn't blind.

The Drawing Board is the best, but sadly not updated for TW. Most of it still fits, but little things here and there are wrong (and it's missing most of the advanced equipment). Skunkworks' new system is like The Drawing Board but updated for Total Warfare. Once he sorts out the printing problems it will be the best program available for making 'Mech record sheets.

As it stands, HMP is difficult and clunky to use, has an interface that makes me want to scream, and - worst of all - when the creators do a new version to include all the TacOps/StratOps stuff, it's something everyone will have to buy again, it's not a free update patch.

The reason HMP is favored is because it is the official program. Bringing other sheets from programs to tournaments is not legal because while the other programs aren't bad, they are still prone to errors.

Then I'd just write my own sheet using a photocopy. Still wouldn't use HMP.

Drawing Board seems suitable for my current needs, until I can figure out why HMP isn't working. However, the BVs on Drawing Board are different than on Encyclopedia Battletech. Should I assume the BVs on Encyclopedia Battletech are correct?

Probably a safe bet both are wrong...

Are you using BV 1 or BV 2?

I don't know. I'm just using Drawing Board and noticed that Encyclopedia Battletech had different values.

They are probably using BV 2 then. You probably have BV 1.

Everything is fine as long as you don't try to mix the two of them. Stick with one set or the other.

BV 2 also has different multipliers for Piloting and Gunnery, so I would just stick with your copy of DB.

Stick with The Drawing Board for BV. It's BV1, yes, so it favours Jump Jets over armour (so designs like the Night Gyr are stupidly expensive), but it's better to be consistent with your designs.

Or just ignore BV, as we do.
