Did you convert that mek/driver on the battlewagon or does that come with the kit?

Really nice colour scheme. Great painting too.

Great job on a very well coordinated and themed army.

The metal effect on the BW is excellent - any chance of sharing how you achieved that?

Cheers,

The metal on the battlewagon was done as follows:

1: Begin to drybrush Dwarf Bronze over a black undercoat.
2: Decide early on that the paper towel you're using to remove most of the paint isnt doing the trick, and start using your forearm.
3: Drybrush chainmail over the dwarf bronze, using the soft fleshy pasty white side of your arm to remove the paint.
4: Mix a whole lot of Thrakka Green and Asureman Blue wash in an empty blister with some water, and say to yourself "I mixed WAY too much".
5: Begin washing this over the entire area, I used a tank brush.
6: Run out half way through, mix up a whole lot more, curse your earlier statement about mixing too much.
7: Begin watching the wash dry.
8: Get fedup with it not drying, sneak into the bedroom and steal your wifes hairdryer and one of her hair ties (to hold the battlewagon without getting any wash on your hands!).
9: Begin hairdrying it to speed the drying process up.
10: Giggle at how as the wind blows the battlewagon around in circles very quickly, the rubber elastic in the hairtie is beginning to melt a little.
11: Realise that while your battle wagon is spinning around, it is throwing wash in a circle all over your new carpet.
12: Run to the kitchen repeating the mantra: "oh crap oh crap oh crap oh crap crap on a crap cracker!".
13: Remove the wash from your carpet, and finish drying the wash.
14: Sparingly apply a devlan mud wash with a smaller brush, wherever you feel the model needs it. You'll often find that everywhere needs it, oddly enough.
15: Once that's dried slowly, because you're terrified of repeating the "oh crap" performance, re drybrush some chainmail where ever you feel it needs it, if you're feeling lazy, you may find that nowhere needs it

It's not normally a 15 step process, but it is when you suck :<

proximity, I think I love you.

Also, your orks look fantastic! And even if you took the 15 step method, the metals on the Battlewagon look great. I'd love to see a full army shot when you're done!

Well, origionally I was just going to do 1750, then 2000 for a tournament in Aus, but because of comp, I've basically had to throw out 3 killer kans and a dread as well as the regular big mek and 15 odd lootas.. all finished being painted but will never get used again :( I guess when you add all that it its probably getting close to the magic 2500 point mark. *shrug*

Intresting scheme. It's a nice oldskool flavor and plenty of spark. I also like the basing, except for the static grass that looks really comical at that brightness in those even lumps, when the rest of the basing is a nice gothic mess.

Looking forward to more.

Gah! Somehow, when looking at the thread, I missed that there even WAS a second page. LOL

Excellent job on the tutorial. I'm wondering, though... Would the model be unnecessarily harmed if i ws to skip steps 11 - 13 entirely?

Looking forward to the trukk!

Uhh, sure SamG - though its very straight forward, just mordian blue foundation -> ultramarines blue -> ultra + some white -> ultra + some more white.

Anywho, I should take some pics of some other stuff I've done over the last couple of weeks, but I finished up this test meganob, and have started the yellow on 3 others for a unit that will be 8 strong in total.

The yellow hilights are a bit extreme for now, I went a stage too far, I intend to tone it back a little, its shown me that the unit doesnt look over powering with that much yellow on it though, which was the purpose of the test figure

Brilliant Tutorials. I really like Kaptain Badmek. Got to agree with you on the highlighting of that Meganob though, it's still a lot better than my stuff however.

After looking at your meganobz, I think that your scheme looks best when there's more yellow on the model than blue. Keep up the great work

Well, I just finished the first 4, though its past midnight so pics will have to wait until tomorrow...
I have some time off work whilst waiting for my new couch to be delivered, so I may be able to snap some then!

Since I last took pictures I've also gotten 30 boyz and a unit of grots painted, as well as finishing that trukk that I used for the metal Tut, so I should get around to those at some point too!
