Well, with my EC's dissapearing to France, and my nids to vanish somewhere too, I'm going to be down to 0 40k armys painted very soon, EEK!

I had been meaning to slowly work on my orks here and there, but that's just not going to be an option now! I have been fairly keen on the orks ever since some nasty little inside man leaked a copy of the half finished codex to the interwebs before it was finished and released.

So after flitting between a million different themes, ranging from everything between KoS and a walkey burney list, I decided on a list of a big meks workshop. It also gave me an excuse to use the trash bases by Micro Art Studios, after seeing them in Hortworths freeboota blog.

So all up, the list for now is looking like : A couple of Big Meks, some Lootas, some Killer Kanz, Deff Dreadz (one of which I plan to use a plane for!), koptas, buggies, boyz, a trukk and even some gretchin helpers (can't wait for the wave 2 plastic gretchin!).

Anywho,

I quickly whipped up a test figure;

and then lept into the first unit!

In my usual fashion, I've taken the photos late at night with a single light, which makes the brights look bright, and anything else look pitch black compared to what it looks like in the flesh Sigh!

Anywho, with a month off over dec/jan - I'm hoping to put some serious dents in the models that need painting.

First, Ill miss your EC´s. Such a beautiful army.

Onto the orkses then.
I dig the color scheme. Blue and yellow work well together and Im liking what youve done so far.

As much as I like really bright green orks, I really dig the very dark skintone youve got going here. Goes nicely with the other bright colors.

What else is on your workbench/ shopping list atm?

I hope that you are saying your ECs were not lost but sold to someone in France, because if they looked anything at all like your avatar then that would be a real shame if they were stolen.

These are looking really nice so far. Nice bright scheme, looking very Bad Moon-esque. The lootas and their bases look great, I was considering getting a few of those trash bases myself and scattering them around different units, seems they work well.

One little bit that you might want to look into is finding an easy way to vary up the deffgun metal colors, so that they look a little more ramshackle and varied. I've found that Tin Bitz over lighter metal colors works pretty well (especially if you keep it to the edges and shadowed areas), and gives a different look than Tin Bitz over a black primer. Also, maybe washing different sections of the guns with ochres or reds or browns would make them look a little more pieced together and would require minimal work. That's my plan for my own lootas, anyway!

I like your yellow quite a bit. Not too light and not too clean. What's your recipe for that?

final hilight of badmoon + a little bit of white : Dl

I would probably normally use sunburst instead, but it felt bad to paint some badmoons and NOT use badmoon yellow !

H'ok... Time for some long overdue updates. I've got a fair bit painted, will take a bit of time to fix up photos, so I'll post them up as I go.

First up, the first Big Mek with Kustom Force Field is done, what a fun model to paint!

Rawr, 6 more kans!

So I had the right number of bases... undercoated them on my balcony on a particularly windy day - then left them to dry. Long story short, I could only find 2/3 in the bushes next door :( Now I have to order another at some point!

Your blue and yellows are very striking. I'd like to see differently lit pictures, because I can't make out any of the darker parts.

You bastard. Now I feel like I need to repaint all my own Bad Moons. The blue looks awesome. I've been using red for my contrast colour and now regret it.

I'd LOVE a game between your 12 Killa Kans and my 4 Deff Dredds and 3 Killa Kans. Better yet an apocalypse game where we team up to make a mega-mech army!!

Shame we live in different countries.

I still wouldnt mind picking up 3 more deff dredds at some point, and trying out the 5 dread army, but there are dozens of ork lists I'd love to play, it really is such a versatile codex.

Proximity, your Lootaz look great. I just bought a box of them on Friday which I've yet to open. I'm quite inspired by what you've done.

That really is some amazing work. The skin tone is darker than I would do myself but it really seems to make the blue and yellow pop out there with the contrast.

Well, a few updates, I've been a bit busy

I've also been doing some kitbashing with the meganobs to breath some life into the old figures, plus I love the new plastic nobs but dont have a unit of regular nobs (BOOO, wtb: feel no pain!).

Painted these a while back, thought I'd share : D

Finally, I was pretty sick over the last 2 days, so painted a battle wagon : O!

And of course a battle wagon is only as strong as the mek who, errr.... steers it!

I think the blue and yellow looks very striking. Sticking with metal colours for the rest of the vehicles enhances this effect even more.

I also like the way you have highlighted the yellow and blue colours.

Good job!

Very nice. I've enjoyed your Blog over the last few months. I actually put together my first Battlewagon last night and your paintwork has inspired me to get a move on and get my own Blog updated soon.

Great work. Thanks for sharing.

If I knew, I'd tell you.

These orks are very impressive.

I really like the head swaps you've done with the mega armoured nobz ( and yes I know..... it sounds like a steel plated dick )

I think the paint scheme is fantastic, especially when portrayed on Badrukk conversion and Big Mek.

Well done, keep it up.
