Sentinel assault cannon for outflanking goodness.

@ HoverBoy : Sentinel with assault cannon! Bring it back! There really isn't a good reason IG to not have the Assault Cannon.

I think Storm Troopers would better fit the "Spotter" slot. Addressing a previous suggestion, however they wouldn't be the only ones. Giving that ability to Rattlings would definitely encourage people to take them in lower point games, and probably revive the unit, even if they are just recast as regular "IG Snipers." Not that snipers are worth that much anymore.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

I think a number of things (non-transport jeeps, bikes, etc) already have rules for them but require converting. Jeeps would just be converted Sentinels, bikes = roughriders. Models for motorcycles would be cool, though.

Human bombs would never be introduced since I think they'd be too controversial to be honest.

Robots don't fit with the fluff. And if you wanted them, convert them and use Ogryns rules.

Really, for IG, I like how they are overall right now. Improved Doctrines and/or other special options are what should be focused on.
Bayonets and improved charge rules
Variable unit squads
ability to 'dig in' at the beginning of a game
drop troop regiments.

The only things I'd like a little more variety on are vehicles where there hasn't already been a niche filled yet. I'm really looking forward to Valks (already got One), maybe actual rules for tank riders , and long range barrage orders.

A long while ago I posted a special tank rider unit. I'd like to see that as some sort of squad. 3 tanks, 20 riders. The infantry can be picked off but recieve additional coversaves.

@Spiff: Human Bombs and Robots are RT-era things that IG had, that we want re-introduced.

Human Bombs are tied to Penal units fitted with explosive collars.

Robots are walking gun platforms, like Sentinels on steroids.

Both units have tremendously detailed rules. Robots, you had to actually program them!

Outflanking

Idea for platoons and KP: 1KP for Platoon HQ, 1KP for Support Squad, 1KP for everything else. Platoon infantry must remain within 12" of the Platoon HQ. This way, Large platoons are encouraged, it is harder to score KP, but there are still easy KP in the troop section. Designated Transports Would be one KP each. This would keep with the gaurd being dependant on command and valueing eguiptment more than men.

Q: What do you call a Dinosaur Handpuppet?

I remember both those units (from old White Dwarf issues and stuffoflegends, I didn't play during RT era) but as it stands, these days I figured human bombs wouldn't fly and robots would go against the whole fluff about the Imperium banning AI. I don't know if that background existed during RT era.

But rules where you have to program robots does sound cool.

anyway, if GW was gonna have a suicide bomber squad, I think it should be a dark eldar slave/grotesque squad. It seems to fit their style.

All over the U.S.

They already have a suicide squad, its the guys with the demo-packs and John just said robots=sentinels. Instead of yearning for overpowered things of yesteryear, lets look forward.
Thought the idea was "New IG units". And if not completely new then rework the existing to include aspects of the old. i.e. ....

Auto-pilot=IG machine spirit

Rewrite fluff on last chancer types and make them demo teams.

Honestly as much as I'd like to see cool new units and abilities you could probably fix IG just with a fluff rewrite.
The adeptus mechanicus finds deterioration in the lasgun STCs and is able to effectively restore them and poof lasguns are S4 AP-.

I would really rather see new units though.

Here's a few:

a Halftrack like the WWII Panzer Elite would use. You can mount an HB, Mortar, or Autocannon on the back, and it can go over difficult terrain like none other. It should be able to hold around four to six guys, and it should only have rear exits. The guys should be able to shoot out of the vehicle, 'cause it'd be open-topped.

a Super-mobile artillery-type gun that can fire two times per turn, but only does 1/3 of the damage of a regular Basilisk cannon. It'll have two twin linked bolters poking over the sides for quick fire on the run. It can't carry anybody... But still. Awesome.

Whatever. No more ideas.

We have nothing to fear but Tyranids.
