On the subject of Raptors, they are my favorite Chaos fast attack unit. I run two squads of 6, one equipped with 2 Meltaguns and a champ with Powerfist. At 185 points or so, that squad can take down a Land Raider. Small squad size keeps them cheap and easy to hide. I love their mobility tooo. The other squad is equipped with a Slaanesh Icon and champ with dual Lightning Claws. I use this squad in conjunction with an 8 man Chosen squad equipped ithe 4 Plasma Guns and an Autocannon. I infiltrate the Chosen just ahead of my deployment zone, preferablly in a ruined building, ect. that gives good cover and fields of fire. I then move the Raptors up behind them, using cover as much as possible. Whittle down enemy infantry with the Chosen's ranged firepowerer, then assault with the Raptors if the enemy gets too close. Works well for me.

I play Night Lords, so I take raptors out of theme. Usually do two squads and a five man biker squad.

As I pointed out in another thread, Spawn are very useful when combined with a Sorcerer/DP with Gift of Chaos, if he has the MoT. You can drop two(or three?) Spawn in the middle of CC.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

Raptors are similar to Assault Marines.
Without a mark of a God they are hardly competitive.

I somewhat disagree. Raptors can take Meltaguns, which I'm pretty sure AM cannot. Granted, Raptors will always be stronger with an Icon, but an Icon can also pump up the points cost in a hurry. Raptors without Icons can be competitve, you just gotta find a niche into which they fit well with your army and style of play.

There are better choices. In 1500 pt games, I find that there is no room for Raptors. In a 2000 pt game, one maxed-out squad moving behind a wall of Rhinos seems a viable option.

Raptors can also be useful when used with deepstriking units.
Give them a mark and run them up a flank to drop units safely wherever you need them.
I run a max squad with MoK to drop Deamons and Termies all over the place before assulting with 4 attacks each.
FTW
Speaking of Chaos Dex Deamons...
