I've got the big boxset with all the seasons, films etc etc, watched most of the first 3 or 4 seasons, really should try and get back into it.

Still think Farscape was funkier and funnier though.

Did anyone see/watch that Dune TV series they did a while back ? Worth a watch or pickup or nay ?

I was never a fan of babylon 5.. the few episodes I watched always seemed kinda boring and dumb. I like BSG cuz the chicks are hotter. Grace Park just melts my butter...

Never really got into the new BSG saw the first half of the first season and the 3 hour pilot episode and i thought it was pretty good, then Virgin Media took away Sky1 to my disgust so never picked it up again, is it generally worth a watch, I'm concerned it just won't live up to the old one, also casting a lot of the main characters as women threw me off a little bit.

Also B5 is perhaps the greatest Sci Fi TV show, to really get it you have to watch it from the start to see all the storylines pan out and come to a conclusion, Season 3/4 are the best though, the acting is weak in some places but the characters in it are awesome, Kosh being one of my personal favorites

so does Dakka say yes to watching BSG all the way through?

Might be able to pick the box sets up cheap from Zaavi still.

it's definitely worth watching straight through. It may drag a bit in parts of the 2nd & 3rd season, but it will be worth it in the end.

B% started out slow, but got really awesome toward the end, then had an extra season tacked on that was just stupid. The spinoff was terrible.

I agree with warpcrafter...seasons 2, 3 and 4 are the worthwhile seasons of B5.

@reds8n: If you're a fan of the book, you'll find the Dune miniseries a much better adaptation than the Lynch film. They changed some things, and you have to keep in mind they had a limited budget. But it at least takes the time to tell more of the story.

The sequel (Children of Dune, which combined Dune Messiah and Children of Dune) took a few more liberties with the original material, IIRC. But it's not bad viewing as long as you don't sweat some of the changes, etc.

I thought I read that Peter Berg was attached to direct a new Dune feature film. If they're going to spread it across two films, Kill Bill style, maybe it has a chance. If they're going for one film, it's clear Hollywood didn't learn a thing the first time around.
