It takes at least six to seven months for a MMO to start hitting its stride, and then a bit more for it to really really catch on.
It's why I just paid for a year subscription, and sign in everyday just to see how everything's going.
While keeping my WoW account active for raiding with my buddies.

WoW's PvP blows because the Arena system killed it. The Arena system in itself is a horrible idea. It ended up with a predictable Vet teams dominated while any team new to the scene got their ass handed to them due to gear disparity.

Gear matters too much in WoW and their pvp blows because it doesn't allow for players to really ever play on an equal footing. Arena blew as the game was all Crowd control and team make up. You knew when you were gonna win and when you were gonna lose just by team make up.

WAR blows as all the Destruction classes blow when compared to their Order Counter Parts. Knock back is terrible... watching Order win Tor Anroc because of the MASSIVE amount Knock back was a clear case of Dev Retardation. KoTBS based Teams in Tier 4 Serpents passage win games just because the Devs in the Patch 1.6 beta Declared a Stackable, unbreakable, AoE, Super Root balanced despite the fact that Guilds were owning face because they could near perma root the enemy team...

Classes portrayals are Terrible. Chosen and Sword Masters are the two worse tanks in the game. The Ironbreak is the best tank with the awesome CC, damage, and best damage mitagations.... Chosen... seriously if i never played Chaos i would think the Chosen to be the biggest "crap" unit ever judging it soley from WARs portrayal of the class.

They really didn't capture the fantasy universe in this game.

but in the end if you think about it, WOW has 11.000.000 players who believe there is something very good about the game they play. perfection doesn't exist, but gratz to the dev of this mmo, because they are striving towards perfection as it is.
on a different note, i personally do enjoy pvp, even though i get my ass handed to me a lot. perhaps it is a question of being able to accept defeat, i don't know.
one thing is for certain though, WAR is nothing compared to WOW, and in my personal opinion will have a very hard task ahead of it to ever compare.

So...about those new classes.

I think it is a semantics argument, like arguing about whether a set of new episodes of a show is a season (US) or a series (UK). It expands the content of the game in both classes, areas, and items so it is an expansion. I think a few other MMO's have used terminology like that as well. LotRO calls them Chapters.

Black Orc is inferior to the Ironbreaker hell the general consensus amongst Black Orc players is the Chosen is better at taking damage. I never lost a duel to an Ironbreaker on my Discord Chosen but then again those were bad Ironbreakers. Then again i whooped EVERYTHING on my Ironbreaker 1v1 and what not. An Ironbreaker is only "weak" when his grudge is low. I don't know what lvl you were but if you were in T3 or T4 that Ironbreaker would have crushed you especially if Vengeance because most of his attacks will ignore your armor.....

When WAR has Khemri/Skaven or Brets I will be playing.

Warhammer have their share of people that dont care about objective , same does WoW.
Arena requires you to think like a team to win too.
WoW only requires smashing buttons? If only its that easy, then i would have ran into more players
that can put up a fight.

Show me a single gladiator rank and up that says WoW has bad pvp. never heard.
i do hear alot of bad players complain though, and i wonder why.

Well last post for me in this thread , i do realize this is a warhammer board, and its pretty silly of me to speak my mind here.
But as i said, i played both games, and if im biased for one of them, its still warhammer. But atm, its still not enough to tip the scale for me.

The OP didn't even mention WoW. The only questions I have are how well the
Slayer and Choppa work, and whether or not you enjoy the Live Events. The
last one was pretty neat, with plenty to do, even if I didn't even get to half
of it.

Not certain at all. I played WoW a bit occasionally to keep my flatmate at the time happy, and never liked it. WAR grabbed me and kept me interested right away.

WAR has a pretty sizeable playerbase too, for its age, and even more so considering it is entering an already crowded marketplace alonside other new competitors and a very well established WoW.

I hate this attitude. Break 2.2k? Pre-WotLK there were quite a few classes that had no shot in hell of breaking 2.2k unless they were piloted by the absolute epitome of a skilled player and even then most times it was having their inefficiencies covered by an over-powered healer (Read: Druid).

Breaking 2.2k doesn't necessarily mean you're skilled. It *does* mean that you play a class that has some very powerful comps.

I for one am looking forward to the choppa. I wanted to play that before launch, and settled for the black ork. Fun, but too much like my WoW warrior to really get me excited (though the fact you could play a tank type in PvP and not want to kill yourself was quite pleasing )

I might give War another chance in a few years. As alot of people have said it is a very unpolished game. It reminds me of alot of other MMO's that got rushed out the door.

Ok I'll say to start you're grossly misinformed. This 'expansion' by WAR is a joke. This is all stuff that should have been in the original game, so heralding as a good thing now is pathetic. This would be akin to WoW Launching with only two main cities each and then giving a free patch/expansion with the remaining cities. Except WoW released a completed game, albeit a bit of hard edges here and there, the game was actually ready for launch.

WAR is a rushjob and unfortunately that is what is its downfall. I'd say 50% of my friends on WoW left WoW to play WAR. After 2 weeks everyone was back except 2 people. A month later? Everyone was back.

WAR shouldn't have been released until Summer '09.

As for you second point? You have not obviously played WoW pvp in a few years...Even back in '05 pvp was much more than mashing one button. And don't give me crap that WAR pvp requires teamwork. WoW pvp requires much more teamwork to be effective in games. Try winning AV with a bunch of idiots who want to do their own thing...You'll get rolled and fast! Ditto for most other BGs and WG of course.

I hoped WAR wouldn't suck, but sadly it sucked harder than I even imagined it would.

The two new classes may not be an "expansion" but the opening up of the Tomb Kings area for exploration/contest would certainly qualify as one. And it's free.

The fact that we're getting two classes to round out Greenskins and Dwarves is just icing on the cake.

It doesn't require teamwork.
It requires a correct team.
There's a difference.

You're not going to win a Warsong Gulch game with nothing but Rogues or Hunters.
You'll farm kills for awhile and be able to defend the flag pretty well, but you won't be able to cap it.

It's the reason why Arenas in WoW bring out the glaring pvp imbalance. Certain specs that push the envelope of control and damage dealing easily outshine anything barring the flavor of the month faceroll teams(Holy Paladin/Death Knight which just got nerfed down to being slightly less OP).
I stopped trying Arenas during season 2 while playing Mutilate on my Rogue, and getting to around 1850, then being blocked by all the X/Resto Druid teams, since my partner was a Feral Druid.
Skills and teamwork don't factor into WoW pvp.
It's the composition that does.

I enjoy WAR...I left WoW after doing hard core raiding for some time and do not really miss it. I was in Beta and enjoyed playing the Choppa...I am glad to see him coming back in.

Something that never ceases to amaze me is the amount of people who go any board and rag on the fact that WAR was released w/ things cut and act like WoW wasn't the same damn thing. Seriously....does anyone not still remember WoW when it dropped? HUGE Bugs, class balance didn't exist, some classes were not even close to being finished, no end game, glitches galore..but people want to act like that didn't happen. WoW IS a good game because it caters to so many people and they have managed to keep the hardcore raiders somewhat happy and the pvpers happy to stroke themselves as they gloat about there l33T arena score while everyone on the forum screams that everything in the game needs nerfed except "insert class that I play here"

Just saying...give it a rest. Every game has cut content and needed twikage to get it working properly, so far WAR has done a fairly good job at giving us updates quickly and this new patch will be good.

Diamond is one of the hardest metals (If not THE hardest metal) known the man.

I heard in the new expansion they are adding Tomb Kings land....nice huh? Nifty new land to explore and fight over? Good times....
