(rgmw is the most entertaining forum but it is lawless and unmoderated so the signal-to-noise ratio is poor)

So what's the long version of rgmw for us poor uninitiated ones? I would like to try that particular jungle.

rec.games.miniatures.warhammer (on Usenet)

Oh yes, and on rgmw you will encounter profanity and kneepads almost immediately.

I've found the grammar used on Dakka to be loads better than other sites.

Also, I find myself posting more as I play more (explains why I've been around for years and have a relatively low post-count).

my post count is 13. (this post will raise it to 14.)

I'm more inclined to post about warhammer at somethingawful and eternityofwar than here, because they are a lot more friendly and receptive to new posters and new views.

Dakka is gruff to a fault. The main thing Dakka has taught me is that if I have anything to say, keep it to myself.

Sorry to hear that pox. I've actually found them to be, for the most part, all bark and no bite. But really, it's an internet forum; how much bite can it have?

the humor is in the fact that somethingawful will tear newbies apart. Its fairly common for writers of moronic posts and new threads to be told to lurk more and be ridiculed till they leave. Probations and bans are fairly common, and every now and then they crank it up for "banhammer week." I've never had any problems posting there, so I dont really think I'll have any problems posting anywhere, haha. now obviously dakkadakka isn't that bad, but if a board is gonna have that kind of attitude, it would be nice to be able to post unfiltered from time to time.

also, because I mostly post in modeling and painting sections of message boards, I actually avoid a lot of the drama that tends to go around both here and warseer. I will say I am of the opinion that people are a tad too harsh on people in the painting sections here. It almost seems like a race to point out flaws, without taking all things into consideration. (time spent in the hobby, age, amount of free time and money, etc.)

to paraphrase from above, this board prides itself on telling the truth, warts and all. I think the focus tends to be mostly on the warts, and not the rest of the hog.

I'll know for sure in a few months, I'm gonna do my next big WIP thread here instead of over at warseer.
