i miss lightning blue. mind you, i've only been in the hobby for 6.5 years, but i got to try that color once and i loved it. same thing with orange ink.

I have an old blue topped bottle of Orange Wash I still break out on rare occasion. Those old bottles were so much better than the new crap...

I'm finding crosses for most of the stuff I've been looking for in the Reaper line, especially in the case of metallics.

From GW though. I miss Vile Green. It was so vile........and.......green.

But hey, I'm a complicated guy.

Coat D'Arms, Coat D'Arms, Coat D'Arms!!

They used to make all GW paints, before GW went all cheap-ass. Most of the older discontinued paints can be bought from them (including the AWESOME amethyst purple). They're cheaper and have better pigment qualities IMO. And they come in those cool-ass (bigger) old-style pots.

As for GW reasoning to stop certain products? My best guess would be everybody's motivating factor right now: money.

GW are really cheap. They cut corners to save money wherever possible. GW brushes are crap now due to them choosing a cheaper manufacturer, rather than W&N, the paints are now crappier due to them going with an inferior product to CD'A. And now you get even less than you used to. for MORE money.

Cutting out extra paints will cheapen production costs on Citadel paints. Less expenditure = more profit.

I'm certain the WD spindoctors will come up with a great reason as to why Citadel have really done this, like "giving the consumer an easier choice", but we'll all know it's beacuse they're cheap.

It's just typical for gw... The old ones that I have aren't dried out yet, while the newer ones I have are doing a sahara-impression on me...

I paint my stuff with the softbodied paint in the 2oz bottles, the paint jsut needs a bit of water.

Your links are seriously out of date. Gladiator Games was purchased by Black Hat Miniatures almost two and a half years ago in August 2006. On top of that, for US orders you should really go through their U.S. distributor at Scale Creep Miniatures.

Yeah it's Coat D'Arms!

Coat D'arms paints were the orriginal Games Workshop paints before that company moved to a new supply. The same paint in the same pots, only the names were changed to save the innocent.

PAINT:Vallejo paints not holding up as well as the GW stuff? I swap between the 2 all the time and I cant tell the difference. I was all GW paints till all the gaming stores closed around me.. Vallejo has specially formulated line called GAME COLORS which are the clones of the GW paints. Check the names: tin bitz = tinny tin / tentacle pink = squid pink / brazen brass = brassy brass. LOL funny but they made it that way so you can find your match. As soon as my GW stuff runs out I'm going all Vallejo.

INKS: Wonder Wash Inks. About $3 and like 12 colors including Skintones wash.

MAKE WASHES: I use Liquitex Glazing Medium and you can make a wash out of any color you own.

now off to Google Search fellow paint slingers!!

'Ard Coat is still available it's just called Gloss Varnish

I miss the old Goblin Green, Deadly Nightshade, Emerald green, Hideous blue, the red top glazes (turquoise, purple and yellow particularly) and many more, even Smelly Primer (it was great to add for highlighting)

I have to ration the use of the remaining pots I have of these in case they run out so they only get used on single figures not armies.
