First car I bought myself is still my current 1997 Pontiac Sunfire GT. It will hit 90K miles here in a few days.

First car I ever had that was bought for me (and my brother) was a 1984 Mercury Marquis. It was an official PoS.

First vehicle bought only for me was a 1970 Ford F-100 Custom Deluxe pickup truck. The BMV did not accept "Rust" as the color, so I told them yellow. Ish.

1984 Nissan Pulsar NX, with no air conditioning. It had a sun roof, and a cassette tape player. It was dark blue with black detailing and the interior was a blueish gray.

I used to make money by picking it up in the parking lot at school or while cruising for da ladies.

It's cold out, throw another heretic on the fire.

I still miss that car and I swear that I'm going to have another one day.

Eric, I thought you were smarter than that. Volvo doesn't know crap about cars - the engineering and design is terrible. You can do far better for less cost from nearly any other maker. I would buy a freakin' Dodge before I bought another Volvo, and those are the worst cars made in America...

Oh, yeah, this is the first car that I bought:

1992 Subaru SVX LS-L

3.3l flat-6 AWD grand touring coupe

A truly fantastic car with incredible engineering, and highly-livable as a daily driver.

Quiet and smooth, and capable of comfortably devouring highway at 100+mph for hours on end. I cannot think of a better car to drive across a continent in.

The car got to 200,000 miles.
____

I'd buy it again if Subaru restarted the production line...

Aw, John.
I never said it was a GOOD car.
But I had some great... times... in that thing. It was my first taste of freedom, and that's a big deal to a 17 year old kid.

I wouldn't buy *Just Any* Volvo... Only that one... and it definitely would NOT be because of the *ahem* quality worksmanship. LOL

89 Toyota 4Runner. 325k+ miles. Just paid about 2.2k a year ago to replace the cracked head, could have bought a brand spanking new engine for that. 6 months later my sister drove it into 2.5 feet of creek water, it didn't hydro lock (thank god) but now it vibrates progressively worse above 15mph. It's been to montana twice from california, canada 3 times at least. 22RE's last for friggen ever, still has the original bottom end.

Someday when I get a real job I'll be able to get a new car.

About 1992 got my dads old El Camino. It looked like this one but was blue with white stripes. He had been tinkering with it for years and had replaced the transmission and some other stuff. I didn't really think much of it at the time (being young and stupid and all) but looking back now it was a pretty cool car.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Actually, I love old station wagons, too. : )
Any of 'em, from the old 50's & 60's, up through the 80's and even the newer Dodge.
There's just *something* about that body style I like.

First car I bought:

First new car I bought:
1999 Honda Accord

My current ride is not bad but too bumpy for my taste. I guess I'm getting old.

Yeah, and that Magnum is the (only) Dodge that I'd consider, per my note above.

Though the new Venza isn't a bad looker, although they're not marketing it as such.

If I was buying an American-badged car, I'd pick Ford ahead of General Motors ahead of Dodge.

However, if I'm buying a car it's going to be Euro or Japanese made.

Seeing as I have been working at a diesel performance company for awhile now, its been fairly easy to tell which vehicle will give you the best depending on what you are looking for.

If you are looking for power you would be better off getting a Dodge, 2nd place is a Ford, and in last are the GM vehicles.

On the other hand, if you are looking for reliability, just reverse the order. Gm, Ford, then Dodge in last.

Of course, these are just my opinions based on what I've seen.
