Incidentally, does anyone know how long Ironclad takes to ship orders?

The supply does not get to make the demands.

I placed my order 10 days ago, and it's failed to materialise. I messaged them last night, and got a polite answer this morning saying the guy in charge was looking into it, and I should have it soon.

Thanks.

I figure about two weeks then, given some extra for international mail and such and such.

I too am a fan of Ironclad Miniatures. This is "Sugar":

I also like he little scout steam tank that Eureka have produced:

For information on scale, Sugar is based on a CD and the Eureka scout tank is based on a GW 60mm "Epic Titan" base. Sugar's commander is a Zulu Wars British officer from Black Tree Design.

I've put a couple more VSF photos in my gallery.

Much appreciated, Osbad. Those two tanks look the bee's knees.

I just combined steam tank 5 with a chimera chassis, to make an experimental chimera for my revived Praetorian force. And I must say, it looks rather good.

The tracks that came with steam 5 with ridiculously small, and made the model itself seem miniscule when placed next to a GW Chimera. So what I did was use the center chassis of steam 5, which comes in one single plastic component, and stick it approximately halfway up between the two tracks. I added an autocannon onto the turret which can double as a multilaser, and added the ends of lasguns to the viewing slits in the front. I manged to get four pointing out. Since the base is relatively high off the ground, I was able to add a heavy bolter underneath them. I used the classic heavy bolter gun shield t represent the hatch it was emerging from, since they're quite malleable, and can be bent to fit the curve of the front of the tank. I have a sawn off heavy bolter from the Cadian hvy weapons sprue emerging from the center, with the sides filed down slightly.

It's undercoated, and I'm in the process of painting. I'm gonna buy a webcam tomorrow, so I should have some pictures( if bad ones) available then. I think it looks rather dapper myself, it has a distinctly British feel to it.

So if you're prepared to amalgamate it with the GW design, it actually makes a really good looking Chimera, and not undersized in any way(if anything, it looks slightly bigger than a GW one).

Well, I promised I'd post something when my order arrived, which happened today. On first look, most of the resin casts are pretty nice (no air bubbles on visible surfaces, no mould lines, etc), the metal pieces don't quite match that quality. The worst-affected are the long spindly legs on the walkers, with their multiple pistons and joint detail.

The resin they're built of is pretty damn hard and I imagine quite brittle, but all the pieces seem solid and durable.

What are their miniatures made of? Metal or resin?

F'real. You're not just helping other gamers, you're helping independant manufacturers make more sales. Given the economy, this is something we should all get behind.

I was speaking to John yesterday at the local gaming show and he showed me some of the 'greens' (actually greys) he's working on including mounts for the Martians/Sanwar (one for single rider and one for two riders) plus the 'dolly' for his giant four arm green Martians (stunning!). He's also just sent of a Sanwar triple barrel rocket launcher model to have moulds made...
I bought two units of Sanwar and the John Carter figure for myself, will post some pics when they are done (first unit undercoated already...)

I was thinking about emailing him too see if he's planning a Nemo or a more opium riddled Quartermain.

Somewhere in south-central England.

The Martians are a bit generic, I suppose they represent the 'Red' Martians from A Princess Of Mars etc. Could as well be almost any 'Arabic' type of figure from 14th century to 19th century, with a kind of gas mask added.

Four-armed Martians are more like it!

The characters are nice, though.

Anyone remember GDW's Space 1889?

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Kilkrazy- Space 1889 is soon to be re-released for 'Savage Tales' which will be good as it can also be used as a skirmish game. There is also 'Mars' for Savage Tales loosely based on the John Carter type Mars (I say loosely as they were legaly warned off doing a proper book based on it...).
