You got a playable army out of of both Tau battleforces as well as from the Tyranid one. Space Marines recently had HQ and 2 troops as well.

SM only come with 15 Tac Marines, One full Squad and a Combat Squad, 5 Scouts, 5 Assault Marines and a Metal...erm Rhino. So for an extra $15 bucks, bringing you to 105 USD you got a pretty decent starting SM army.

While in the Tau Box you get a full FW Squad, a XV8, 3 XV25, a squad of Kroot and a Devil fish for only 90 USD

Both actually fairly decent, though the SM seem like a better deal for their buck as I think for 105 bucks you can equal a 1000 Pt force depending on out fitting.

The new Battleforce (which is not quite out on the shelves yet) is a 25 man platoon with a heavy weapon squad (3 heavy weapons) and a Sentinel (which is a Fast Attack choice). You could also use the heavy weapons in the platoon command squad, and each of the two ten-man infantry squads. That would free up six figures that you could use in a third squad, if the new IG codex still allows the Remnants option for infantry platoons.

Using just a Battleforce box, you will be a bit limited in the number of special weapons as the choices are:
1 plasma gun
1 melta gun
1 heavy flamer
5 flamers
5 grenade launchers

On the other hand most other armies don't have the luxury of this many available special weapons in their Battleforce sets. I mention it as a constraint because I prefer more plasma and melta guns since I use a lot of veteran squads (which can take 3 special weapons per squad).

That's a good question!

I'd love an Imperial Guard "big box" but I have heard nothing of GW doing one. Perhaps once they release the tank recuts it would be feasible, but by then I feel they would've missed the boat a bit as these big box sets are usually timed to come out with new Codices to ride the hype. Still, maybe there'll be enough of a sales push with Planetstrike... ?

Yeah the cadians, just found the break down. That's pretty good for a dollar per model break down. Composition wise it's not that bad as you won't have to sell much on peebay.

I'd suggest you pick up a couple of the current Battleforces before they go away. You'll get a couple of tanks that way, and then get some of the new ones.

Failing that, get some 20-man boxes of Cadians now beofre they vanish and you end up paying 2/3rds the price for 1/2 the contents when the new 10-man Cadian boxes arrive.

Yupp I bought 1 battleforce at start and a hq box. But I bought 2 extra BF to beef the numbers of inf and 3 LMR is nice!
