So... I like it but it looks a bit uh... 'smudgy'?

I think I know what you mean. Around the brass, the shading is a bit thick. I might be able to clean it up some.

@ infilTRAITOR
The following week I might have finished my scratch-built ..... - you will have to wait & see, but I'm getting excited & it will save me about £40 a pop (what is it????)
HINT: it uses parts from the AOBR orks....

Is this for the nitty gritty contest?

Armies:
(CSM/HH) - Iron Warriors; Death Guard; World Eaters; Night Lords
IG - Vestfalian Expeditionary
Force (Solar Auxilia - HH)
SM - Blades of Inaros (Homebrew)
DE - Kabal of Ouroboros

I know it's been a while but I get distracted easily & have that joyous illness, depression.
Anywho here's the latest -

group photo -

now close-ups of one that's almost done (note the weathering on the trousers) -

and here's my take on the Forge World Blight Drone -

I'm really happy with the base. I used the 'hairspray' technique on the barrels. I had to mask almost all the model to airbrush on the yellow then proceeded to rub off some of it & weathering the rest!
Thanks to someone from Forum of Doom for giving me the Biohazard decals years & years ago.

Blight Drone looks great. What colors did you use for the carapace of it?

Cheers 'Blue.

For the green, I used rotting flesh over a preshaded basecoat of sorched brown / dark flesh.
This was then shaded with thrakka green and a smidge of dev mud. Will still wet this was teased out to feather the edges.
A dry brush of rotting flesh then more sellective washes of green & brown ink were used.

The rust was done with MIG powders - light rust, standard rust & old rust. This was mixed with water then applied with a brush.
Once dry I used the GW stppling brush, an old toothbrush & my figures to rub off most of it.

A lot of these stages were trial & error. At one stage the whole thing was done as solid rust but it looked too plain so I added the green.

If you've got any more questions / comments keep them coming!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I need to pick out the bolt / rivet heads on the carapace & rustify them then finish the flesh & leather straps.
