If it costs less? Yes. Now, I don't mean get the whole army that way, just some grunts. Considering I bought 3 extra 20-man boxes to bring me up to 100 guys, I could just save a few bucks and spread the mono-pose guys out. And, at least they're quick to build !!!

Hello Guardsmen, look at your Leman, now back to mine, now back to your Leman, now back to mine. Sadly, your Leman isn't mine, but if they stopped using standard engines and switched to Lucifer Pattern, they could move like they're mine. Look down, back up. Where are you? Your in a battlefield with the Rhino your Leman could move like. Whats in your hand, back at me, I have it, it's the fire control for the Twin-linked Assault Cannons aimed at you. Look again, it's a Deep-Striked Land-Raider. Anything is possible when your Tanks move like Blood Angels, and not like Guardsmen. I'm on a Baneblade.

*le sigh* The point I was trying to make was that IG troops boxes were cheap $-per-model-wise (compared to the plastic troops available for other armies) for a very long time. Inflation exists. Prices go up. Now, maybe a 25%-33% increase seems like a lot for some people but frankly I was shocked at how long they stayed at the old price without a proprotional increase.

P.S. The lack of recut is still suckky though.

I understand your point HMBC, but I would point out that generally one expects older products to become cheaper over time, not more expensive.
The plastic Cadians have been around for a while, and they look like it. They have that awkward chopped off hand on gun thing (which I at least hate, maybe no one else does), their poses are not too exciting, and as has been mentioned, they come with two special weapons only, not even close to the full set of options. Paying >2$ a model for that is asking a lot.

I think people are justified in being a bit cranky that they are paying more for the same thing, when really they could be charged less. The answer, of course, is to not buy them anymore if we are that angry, but of course we are not. It is just disappointing that GW would waste an otherwise nice opportunity to offer a better kit at low cost.

Personally, I would have liked them to either keep the 20 man box, or sell a 10 man box for the same price per figure, and offer a "special weapons upgrade pack" (or squad pack) with 2-3 of each special weapon. I would pay a pretty penny for that, probably up to 1$ per gun. They could still have gotten away with using the old mold for a few more years, but would have also offered something new.

I like the idea of a 10 man box. There are some cases where you just need a few more men and buying a box of 20 leaves you with extras you just don't feel like building. but for the increased cost. I would have rather they redid the models with new poses and a lot more extra bitz, and I also hate that disembodied left hand molded onto the gun thing. Luckily I have pretty much all the men I'm gonna need, I'll probably just pick up the command squad at some point but that's about it.

Yea, I would be shiney happy with a 10 man box recut like the orks. I really do prefer to buy 1 unit at a time, except when I save so much money buying 2

Except that you don't even get a unit in this box. You didn't in the old one either.

Yes... which is why I wanted an Ork-esque recut.
And generally I like 1:1 unit:box ratio, no more, no less, but if I can save money on a 1:2 ratio that is nearly the cost of the second unit, that's ok too.

It is the lack of such in this new case that makes me irritated.

The 10-man box is now up on the GW site (UK/US/Oz at least). They show a "new" photo of the troops (on the box) and you've got to read the product blurb which I've included below... the spin is hilarious ) but it's still the same old models. They even show the same old sprue. Oh, and this box does comprise a complete unit now... if you field them as Veterans or Penal Legion of course.

"Imperial Guard Cadian Shock Troops

Imperial Guard platoons are made up of several ten-man squads. In the face of the enemy the serried ranks of the Imperial Guard are trained to stand firm and respond with a steady aim. When sergeants bellow the rank and file obey; backs stiffen and lasguns level with the foe. Opponents charging at Imperial Guard positions must first survive a blazing hail of lasfire, a fusillade that can stem the tide of all but the most determined assault.

This box set contains 10 multi-part plastic Cadian Shock Troops, and includes: five leg variants, seven head variants, 10 lasguns, two chainswords, two laspistols, two grenade launchers, two flamers and two Vox-casters. Also included are a host of additional components allowing you to assemble a Sergeant and personalise your squad. Models supplied with 25mm round bases."

I hope the rumor making the rounds about a price adjustment over the summer is false. Someone mentioned it would result in £12 boxes going up to £15. Which would mean that over a very short period of time, plastic Cadians would undergo a 67% price increase.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

I still haven't been able to get a straight answer on whether there is going to be a price increase or not. In any event, the new Guard stuff looks to have had an increase factored into their prices anyway.
