Well my translation-fu might be weak, but having paranthesis next to Rifle Laser that say "The sergeant goes armed with a pistola laser" is pretty hard and fast confirmation. There appears to be nothing in the options that's free (which a lasgun would be). No Shotgun, No Lasgun. Just Las, Bolt, or Plas pistol. Wow.

Attention Mr. Robin "Arby" Cruddace: GUARDSMEN ARE NOT SPACE MARINES.

So, who else will be explaining this idiocy to all their opponents beforehand, and asking them to be reasonable and allow you to take lasguns on Sgts? I see that becoming the first house rule for the new Codex.

I never thought I'd long for the day I could buy Lasguns for 1 pt a piece.

Maybe they want to be sure you can't have 10 lasguns doing FRFSRF. Bastards. I swear this is becoming more and more annoying. If anything, I want to see a pdf of this thing just to dispell the rumors of AWFULNESS.

WHICH ISN'T EVEN A WORD!!!

And the bolt pistol commissars too. I have one armed with a laspistol. I'll be fething PISSED if he can't use it.
Then have it count as a master-crafted hell pistol.

What's this? Strange new limitations and restrictions added to a book for no apparent reason?

Arby strikes again!

I think I might call it Codex: Arbitrary Guard...

Interesting art choices. I like most of them. Look forward to the book, if not the rules.

The artwork is really nice, and there are very few recycled pictures from what I could see in the units and Codex section. Can't speak to the fluff section as I haven't seen that yet, but the rest is quite well done.

I'm just sad that there aren't some more detailed pics of the Eradicator and Punisher. I'm pretty sure we can convert them from existing parts (assuming you've got spare Russ turrets floating around), but a single small side-on shot ain't much to go on.

Yeah, I gotta admit, BrookM, it does seem like you spend more posts yelling at people complaining than anything else. At some point, you're basically calling us out, and frankly, it's getting rude.

It's rude because I think people are raising valid points on things that personally effect them in a reasonable way, and you're being insulting and condescending. Not all criticism is "nerd rage."

Wow, so impressive. This is one of the few Codexes (Codeci?)where my enthusiasm has actually managed to nose dive the closer it gets to release day (with the Chaos Codex being the other offender).

I don't even think I kept the laspistol/chainsword arms. I'm pretty sure I gave them to a friend because "not like I'll ever need IG close combat arms". Silly me.

So I was reading on the official site that the release date is May 5. Is that absolutely true or are their sets floating around on the d.l. or somewhere else?

Thanks for the sprues. I had little interest in purchasing the Valks (though it is a nice kit) until I saw the Punisher FW add-on. I'll be getting at least one with that, just for coolness. And for an =][= model.

I read it the same way that you did. Curses!

Someone please tell me that una Escopeta is a shotgun because I'll arm my veteran sergeants with that instead of stinking pistolas laser. At least they'll look cool before they die.

I doubt anyone would would mind if you used the laspistol stats against them.

That's good for my veteran squads. Anyone using regular squads is stuck with a laspistol and CCW for the squad leader unless they pay extra points for a bolt pistol or plasma pistol upgrade. The Penal Squad Custodian is even worse. He's just plain stuck. Well, on the plus side they get base 3 attacks but that's not going to tease me away from veteran squad sergeants with shotguns.

Long live shotguns my friend. They'll always be my favourites but I still think they should be S4.

I agree. I also wish GW had placed a shotgun arm or just a shotgun in the new command squad set. It appears to be the one weapon that they didn't put in there.

One piece that is well overdue a remake is the piece for Yarrick, which predates the current model and still has that combat lobster look going for him

Only Las Pistols for Srgs. huh? Kiss my ass GW, I am keeping all of my lasgun armed models. If anyone makes a big deal about it I will counts as them to a pistol sword combo.

That is so stupid. Why? There is no reason for that.

Nah, just say its counts as LP+CCW and mark the base to show a sarge.

Sgt. has a pistol, with an option to upgrade to bolt or plasma, or take a power wpn.

According to the English codex.
