Eh, I haven't bought a model in 3 months. I've got so many unfinished or never started models that I have no need to buy any more. I've even stopped buying games workshop paint, so I just don't care. These days all my extra cash has gone into a rapidly expanding comic collection.

I was going to get into the WotR, even had some models left over from my stint with LotR. But unemployment and the recession hit and can't afford the $150 for the book, trays and supplemental models that I want.
Think I'll just get the new Guard 'dex and break out the old metal guard models so they can see the light of day again.

Dont blame you for not following warseers uber length threads of nothingness, found the 25% figure myself though, thats not good, not liking that one bit, 10 marines would go from £18 to £22.50, battle forces from £50 to £62.50. ouchies.
Lets just hope that figure is wrong.

DKoK would come in around $5.80 USD/model in assembling a single squad with heavy weapon. Plastic IG, $3 USD/model in assembling a single squad with heavy weapon. I'm starting to believe its GW's goal to eventually bump the price of plastics upto those of DKoK, since people are providing them with statistical data supporting such a price.

Hopefully it's from wild ass guesses and mass hysteria. I've been told to expect something in the 3% to 5% increases on some products. Battleforces to 95.00 from 90.00, etc.
And take that with a grain of salt, sometimes what I get from GW is currect, sometimes the higher ups don't tell the guys in trade sales the total truth, so my info gets garbled. A couple of the boys in promotions used to try to spin the math on increase, which I hope has stopped. It only works until I can punch a few numbers into an excell sheet.

You know, I never really thought about it before, but I really do wish I never started collecting. Compared to the downright scary amount of money and time I've poured into this game since late 2006, I simply haven't gotten my money's worth out of it, and probably never will.

Mikhaila numbers sound more logical. No sane company is going to go for a 25% price increase in a this economic climate unless they feel like going belly up.
But Wall Street has shown us that sometimes the guys on top are anything but sane

Someone should be keeping tabs on how many people say they are going to quit after a price increase and actually quit. I'd be interested to see the data.

This is an estimate, but i think it'll be some where along the line using my current army as example :
*note prices in CDN
Lizardmen Chakax, Eternity Warden $17.00 -> $18
Tiktaq'to, Master of Skies $20.00 -> $25
Lizardmen Saurus Cavalry $40.00 ->$45
Lizardmen Kroxigors $23.00 -> $25
Lizardmen Razordon Hunting Pack $25.00 -> $30
Lizardmen Salamander Hunting Party $35.00 <-- $30 ( wow a decrease z... )

For my part, I am seriously contemplating selling nearly everything I have for 40K (quite a bit including my extensively converted =][= themed deathwing army) and WHFB (teeny pile) and just using that money to fund my new found love affair with WotR.
LotR isnt an expensive game, but don't be fooled by those $25 LotR boxed sets into thinking that they are cheap. At least not on the scale in order to play WotR.
Recently I made my first purchase in almost 2 years if memory serves, and those 3 boxes of Army of the Dead along with movement trays set me back $90+tax just to make two formations each with three companies. That gave me a grand total of 360 points of the 2k I need.
If the price goes up significantly (more than 10%) there is no way in hell I would spend any money on it unless it came from selling my previous GW models.

Since GW is steadily increasing in $ might as well as hold on to your 40k stuff and let them inflate. (unless its confirmed they'll be getting new models )

I don't know about anyone else but every time a price increase comes up I have to stop and consider if the hobby is still worth it and what the whole point of collecting miniatures is in the first place. What has been happening lately is I pick up a 20 or 40 dollar box of models and then think about all the comics or whatever that is and the comics have been winning every time. I agree that I like to have models to show for my money. However at some point the company will simply price me out of the hobby. I'm not saying this is the death blow for me, but its getting there.

This is indeed true. But its a two edged sword, while it may indeed be cheaper than buying at retail prices, somethings are so expensive that people simply dont want them.
Case in point, my enormous SOB army. Easily 2K in infantry alone and priced to sell, but thats still a lot of money. Just not a good time even at dreastic and steep discounts.
Which is what makes many pople scratch their heads at GW's price increase and the timing of such.

Do what I always do:
c>Avoid giving money directly to GW and buy second hand stuff from Ebay, Bartertown, etc.
These venues are full of deals if you know were to look and don't mind stripping models. I scored two Wave Serpents and a Falcon for my new/old Eldar force last week for a total of 65$ shipped. They were constructed but unpainted.
This even holds true for new releases. Want some Valkaries? Wait a few months after they get released and they will be on the second hand market in droves.
What is the cliche'? "Retail is for suckers"?
