I use figures in comfort cases, the foam is great, case, not so. I really however like the look of Kaiser Rushforth (www.kaiserrushforth.com). A friend has some and they are pretty sweet, plus £20 for a case which holds upto 288 figures is pretty tasty!

Not sure if they ship to the states however!

My comments are my own, and mine own alone. If you have any complaints, please report to Mr Spanky who will take them down for you.....

Those are sick. I'm intrigued.

Currently, I am using Feldherr (feldherr.com) boxes. Two of the big ones. Because some of my friends, who buy stuff from bluetablepainting, get their armies delivered in Sabol bags. And those suck. The material is cheap, the zippers are small sized (also cheaper) and the thread is not really impressing.

Feldherr is much better when it comes to soft bags. They use material that to me feels equivalent to 1000 denier cordura, the zippers are bigger and therefore sturdier and the thread fits the material used.

Still, I like hard shell stuff more, plus, as the OP, I got lots of stuff to transport. Sadly, Feldherr hasn't impressed me there, as hasn't any other producer I have found yet.

The foam Feldherr produces is great though, yet fitted to their own containers, so I haven't gone through with my plans to buy custom foam cut to fit Festool Systainers (which is _the_ thing to have if you're into DIY stuff). Which still is what I would recommend if you're going to start anew.

I think Peli boxes are also nice, but overkill for plastic toys. The boxes themselves weight too much, so taking them to a game is a bit of a hassle. Still, they are good to put stuff in there to prepare for the upcoming zombie apocalypse.

Painted armies: 3000+ Nurgle CSM. Converted, yet unpainted armies: Too many.

We use Peli Cases at work, I recollect one of their adverts showing a camera crew going by boat down the Congo, towing their camera's in cases behind the boat!

Sweet, but expensive! I managed to nick a sheet of their foam however and my Ravenguard are nice annd snug in the foam in a spare ali case I have....

I'm all-Chessex, and I have way more stuff than you. I just use a gym bag, allowing me to carry multiple Chessex cases at once.

My only challenge is tanks, and I made a custom (double-height) box that I use for those.

Just scoop your orks up and put them in a big bucket.

Then pour the orks out when you play. Cheap and effective!

I do that with my 2nd ed Orks and Grots, they're not painted...yet..I've been concentrating on my Marines..

Aye, they're little half-inch square cut-outs you pluck out.

I bought some Plano double handgun cases from Walmart last year and they had the pull and pluck foam on their main layer. I thought that was sweet, because I was able to put 6 Rhino hulls in one case and a Land Raider and two Rhino hulls in the other. I used a regular double gun case with eggcrate and was able to carry all of my Dark Angels (at the time). But sometimes the figures were packed too close together, the foam didn't hold them in place and they were able to jostle around, I had at least one figure's arm broken off every time.

Right now, Dick's Sporting Goods (can't wait to see what the pr0n filter does to that ) has a really nice canvas double gun case on sale for $50. It's rectangular with reinforced corners. It has Masonite in between duck canvas on the sides. You could stencil military logos on it and stuff. It doesn't scream "Gun!" as loud as regular gun cases.

I looked around here, with all the furniture plants in NE Mississippi, it was easy to find a foam plant that sold custom cut foam that was really cheap. For $30, I bought foam cut to the dimension and thickness I wanted to fit in my Rubbermaid storage containers. The downsides: I had to cut out my own pockets and I didn't have a pick of color. They sold me what they had in the plant that week: white. It was the right density, but they made their stuff for cushions that were covered and not exposed to light. I didn't think to specify color, I ordered it over the phone and asked for the same kind of foam they sold in gun cases, thinking it would be gray. If I wanted gray, I would have to put my order on hold until they happened to get gray foam. They offered to score the foam to make it pull and pluck, but that would make it more expensive than Sabol.

One of our members figured out a really neat solution; he was at the right place at the right time. He and his wife bought a new set of luggage and then he bought enough Sabol trays from thewarstore.com to fill his luggage and then some. He insists he was charged different amounts for each thickness of tray, but this was before they bought out battlewagon bits. He loads up the trays he wants to bring and puts them in his small carry-on bag. If he needs to bring miniatures for Apocalypse or to let someone borrow an army, he loads up his big bag, which carries more than twice as many trays as the carry-on. Sabol makes their trays and cases carry-on friendy, so they trays fit in regular luggage and carry on bags perfectly. If I wasn't so stubborn, I would have bought up a whole lot of Sabol trays and not wasted time with my homebrew method.
