1. Do you have a point to make? if so make it!
2. You've placed a question mark against Haqqislam, have you read the rule book and fluff? again, if thats the problem why not come out and state it.

You're the second person on this thread to raise some kind of "point" about the "islam" thing......and the second person to be as vague about it.

I wasn't making a point about anything it was just the fact that it had islam on the end of the name and the hashashins during the crusades were islamic.

And the reason that my post was vague is that it is a general rule that if you say anything about islam you generally get blasted.

Theres perhaps some things you ought to know. In Infinity, Islam, or in fact HaqqIslam, plays a major role as one of the main factions within the game. Haqqislam is the "new islam" that seperated from the: and I quote; misguided doctrines of the past. That said, the Haqqislamist follow the Koran in a purer sense, etc etc.

You should also know that the Pan-O faction is heavily Christian based, with main characters ala Joan of Arc, etc, and orders of knights whose basis is plucked right out of the Crusades.

The only problem, if problem is the correct term, is that there seems to be more than a little negativity implied in your post, which I feel is unwarrented. Afterall its a game. And while I neither support or stand against islam, I feel, in general there to be alot of hipocrisy and bias towards anything vaguely islamist, which smacks of ignorance, and pandering to popular media hype and propoganda.

The game designers have trodden very carefully around the whole Islam "thing" thats flooding the media these days, and they have done a great job. Not only have they avoided bogging themselves down in current political garbage, they have taken our modern day pariah and created a faction that is desirable to play, rich in readable and inspired fluff, and provided wonderfully sculpted and proportioned miniatures to boot. It might be worth focusing on those points rather than the vague, and corrupted asscoiation with todays target monster, or should I say Islamic based faith.

In wargaming , specially on fantasy worlds or times, doesnt make much sense to feel somewhat ofended with these issues... Its not like you dont see religious/ political icons everywere in wargaming... from the FOW nazist to the GW priests.
I just say keep your political/religious agenda to yourselfs and enjoy wargames and miniatures for what they are.

Yup I agree, don´t put RL concerns in a game.

Here the only bad guys are the Combined bugs that want to eat us poor hummies. The human factions are as good or as evil as your faction of choice see them.

Ohh these look nice. Too bad my painting skills suck, I just got 18 models for Nomads that I'm not sure How to paint correctly. I might just get a pro to do the job.

ahh, INFINITY...the game that cured me of 40K (Though I keep my Tau handy when someone needs their eyes opened to the greater good).

INFINITY-A game for gamers, not customers.

anywhoo...Nomads FTW!

I would like to see CB lean towards releasing more models that are already stated out. Though CB seem to be masters of the "add new stuff and keep everything balanced" concept that GW seems devoid of, it would be nice to fill in the ranks before adding whole new units and abilities.

Still not keen on the rules, too many interruptions that break up the flow of the game, especially since every move could be interrupted by every unit practically. I hope they toned it down a bit but for all the talk of maneuvers in a skirmish environment, it wasn't happening.

"every move could be interrupted by every unit practically"...well...that is about as far from practical as one can get really. The game is about intelligent deployment and the use of cover. If you try to play INF on a 40k field then you have have the experience you described above. INF echos reality better than most (ie. standing out in the open shooting, will likely draw fire from the guys you are shooting at). Even with cover, If a person where to hop out into an alley and start shooting at some people dug in on the other side he would not realistically live. Now...when that same psycho jumps into the open, but has a rocket launcher, the guys on the other end are going to dive behind something a bit harder than car doors and barricades instead of returning fire. Both of these situations can be played out in INF. In other games it tends to be a sit there and get shot until it is your turn deal. I will, however, agree with you on the point that it can feel a bit broken up...but that only lasts until the players get over the steep learning curve, then INF is very smooth.

Haqqislam?

The word assassin derives from Hashshashin, which was a semi-derogatory term for a Muslim sect that waged war through the murder of key political figures. They essentially turned young men into living weapons by indoctrinating them with a fanatical loyalty to the Imam (the leader of the sect), and pumping them full of hashish. Hence the name.

It's unfortunate that most of their model range is unposeable metals. I would love to buy a couple dozen for a high tech IG force.
