You're all mad legends!! I didn't know about it till now, but if there's another attempt I have about 25 vehicles with an armour value, so I can contribute to more record attempts!

At Kursk there was too much dust being kicked up for air support, and AT guns rarely got good LoS due the the number of tanks on the field. It was won by numbers, and reliability issues.

Ah German Tanks at the end of WW2, so great, but broke down more times than an emo at a Taking Back Sunday gig.
Fair play to all you guys though, i actually know one of the staffers in the video which is rather odd considering I live many many hours away from Manc.
I remember when we had a game like this my entire 1500pts of Salamanders got squared off against a Warhound. Took down the Warhound and took down the enemy's general a Dark Apostle man that felt good.

I was sure he was going to trip over the tower at 3.24 in the video. I dunno if I'd trust someone to walk in that 12"/24" gap and not step on my tanks!
Thats why warhamster is a tabletop wargame. It stops injuries.

Sounds like the organisers of Adepticon should think about challenging this record with a side line game at their next event. Anyone think about that one? I bet the record would be set with that sort of gathering.

Seconded. I don't play tournies, but would make the hour and a half trip down there just to take part, sit in on seminars and get in some open gaming.

America is just so spread out, I think the brits will always have our number when it comes to consolidated amounts of armor.
Yes, well, unless you mean real armor.
Shoulda re-enacted the battle of Kursk, 3000 jerry tanks + 3600 of ivan's = big ass battle.
Which is pretty crazy, considering the record for plastic tanks is about half that. That's 7600 REAL tanks fighting it out.
But then again, the Russians had millions and millions of people working on it, and these Brits had maybe 200 British people.

I was just thinking that. The UK has the advantage in this case because they're smaller and clustered together, so you could have guys realistically come from all over the country to participate in this thing.
Trying to get any one American store to get 100+ people to participate is simply impossible.

Lets see, new jersey and new york combined would be less than a third the size of the uk with more than half it's population. And thats not the only example I could have used.

Population of NY state = 19,306,183
Population of NJ state = 8,724,560
Total = 28,030,743
Total area of NY State = 54,475
Total area of NJ State = 8,722
Total = 63,197 (includes water)
Population of UK approx 61,000,000
Land area approx 94,526
So NJ+NY combined are about 2 thirds the size of the UK (although this is just those parts in the British Isles) with just less then half the population.
The UK is tiny compared to the US.

I saw the entire Ultramarines chapter at Games Day 94 (or 95 - correct me if I'm wrong) - pretty spectacular!
The popularity of GW surprises me - yes the UK is tiny compared to the USA, but our hobby receives absolutely zero in terms of TV advertising here in Britain - the fact that so many people are aware of the hobby and can get together for massive events such as these is well impressive. Just from word of mouth and internal advertisment.
Does GW receive much coverage in the US? Or is underground there too?

I'm surprised you have to ask, definitely underground. No GW commercials or advertising here, either. Besides Dawn of War.

I have to ask because I have never been to the USA - It's big, yeah? Must be hard to maintain a word-of-mouth culture...
I s'pose that's what the internet's for...
I've never even seen a DoW commercial on British TV.
