I dont really see the huge problem here. I mean the guy paid for a certain service and got back garbage. If this was a mistake on BTPs part, so be it and I feel the customer has every right to complain. Did he tell BTP that he wouldnt comment on it publicly? Yes. Did BTP sell him a Lv4 paintjob but give him a Lv -4 paintjob? Yes. The problem is being taken care of and thats what matters. All experiences, good or bad, need to be taken into account with a business. No one is perfect but it's really how they handle their mistakes. If it's being taken care of then the result (when all is said and done) should be posted up for all of us to see since the buyer had posted the situation in the first place... think of it as remedying the situation for BTP and restoring their name.

That is of course my opinion and to me seems most sound which would make everyone happy in the end (unless of course youre an uppity douchebag, which no one here is.... right?)

I mean its possible that my wording for the questions are totally off that you just mis interpret what im trying to get at. Or i simply dont share the same amount of faith you do regarding this.

Its ok, I'm unsatisfied with yours. Your commenting on a process you have no knowelege about. I can walk you through it as a client how it works. Whether you accept it or not is totally up to you. I pretty sure your doing the misinterpreting as far as you can judgeing by your questions and answers.

I dont know but online companies that provide a service do live from the image they project to their potential customers... Posts like the ones seen here will make them lose lots of money.

Its not my problem but heck guys, please be a bit more carefull with the content you post, things could be resolved in private and everyone would be happy... mistakes happen everywere so be a bit more flexible ok?

Everyone has its reasons but I think we all should be carefull when it involves someone's income.
Never used the service but seen the ton of projects they are involved in... so i think this is rahter the esception than the rule.

Interesting.....I'm kinda on the fence with this one. Sure the OP in the original thread could have handled things behind closed doors, and by the sounds of things (seeing BTP response, he maybe should have done exactly that!)

However, there are occassions where I think its right that people come out into the open and let others know that a company is doing things wrong.

A company hasa responsibility to its clients, and if the company screws up, forgetting the human side of things, then they should be held accountable. In this particular case BTP put their hands up and admitted they'd made a mistake and offered to redeem themselves, but some companies won't do that......

Man down, Man down....

Sometimes when all comunication and relationship between a company and client goes bad its usefull to warn the general public... but in this case I think the client handled all this very poorly.

For the amount of work they do I dont see much complaining... except for this one. Sometimes using your head instead of the mouth gets you better results.

If the company tried to compensate for its mistake I dont see ANY reason to complain about. How many times did anyone at his daily work made a mistake its a normal thing.

I posted in the inital thread. I was non-too-complimentary about the job BTP had done. BTP joined in the thread to explain what had happened, thread was locked before i could commend BTP for sticking their necks out and saying sorry, in public, to the OP.

Lunahound did a good service to the thread by posting re-sized pics of the models the OP recieved.

@Carmachu: The original thread simply asked for some feedback on the models he had recieved, they did not ask for everybody to jump aboard the good ship "we all hate BTP". All involved gave their honest opinions including, to their great credit, BTP.

That the thread got locked before anyone could say this is what has led to this potential little flame-war we have going here.

Sigh.

Edit: As Luna does comissions herself, i'm pretty sure she's qualified to comment on 'the process'.

Personally I think the company handled this the best way they could. It doesn't matter how good your quality is, eventually mistakes are going to slip by. But dealing with backlash from your customer base for shoddy work should also be expected. Word of mouth about service is pretty powerful. The only way to combat it is to pump out quality work. If BTP keeps pumping out shoddy work, then that would be an issue. Anyone who has run their own business understands this concept.

Why should 1 bad project be blown into something so big though? I've had 10 wonderful projects done by BTP. I can think of 20 others done for friends who had no complaints.

Every little "critique" I've made about my projects he was 100% all over. Even on my last project, there was a small mistake, and he was very quick to own up to it, and fixed it very quickly.

It's sad what I'm seeing in here, and I'm glad I didn't see the previous thread. Shawn runs a great business, and he provides a great service to people like me who have no artistic abilities at all. He doesn't deserve this negative press by people who have never even contracted his work.

People mostly post the bad stories because they have conflict, which makes for an interesting story. The "good stories" have no conflict, so they're boring, and no one reports them.

So remember, 1 bad story == 1 viewer, but 1 good story == something like 8 billion viewers. Well, not really, but you get the idea.

I just absolutely love the excuse of not sending enough samples = the cause of this.
Shawn's apology and offer to repaint would have been fine and would have been just that.
but to use such an excuse... basically took any respect i have him as professional away.

Does anyone need sample to know colors are supposed to stay neat and in their proper place not random splotches everywhere?
I guess next time i'll specifically ask to make sure if im to paint a mini's eye all the way to their behind.

Well i guess to some , its a yes... So be it.

Well, I guess he did kinda have a point...what if he complained because the models didn't match? Then again why would he pay for such a high level commission for something he could slop on himself?

You have your facts a little mixed up, Luna.
The "not enough samples" reason didn't have anything to do with the messy spots on the mini. In fact, Shawn apparently owned right up to those. The "not enough samples" reason was in respect to the colors not matching.

Sidstyler wrote:Well, I guess he did kinda have a point...what if he complained because the models didn't match? Then again why would he pay for such a high level commission for something he could slop on himself?

You should check out the BTP web site.
I don't recell him claiming these were "high level" commissions.

With exception to the sloppy areas, these are on par with his "mid level" service, at least.
