Small update.
I have had family from England staying with me for the last couple of weeks so I haven't touched my paints or my computer much.
I finished off the base and feet of my Venerable dread tonight. His first pair of arms have finally turned up from forgeworld too, so i can drill them and place magnets in them so they will be swappable and re-positionable. (I hope)
There were also some Ultramarines Icons and Landraider doors in the parcel so that's something else that is ready to go.
Anyway, enough gabbling, on with the pics.
Brother Animus and Venerable Brother Atropos together.
Now that I have some more time to spend, hopefully I'll be able to update this blog more regularly with a good amount of progress.

Hey folks,
The first Dread is just about finished for now.
The only things I changed at all was to extend the smokestacks slightly to help breakup the silhouette and added the purity seal and Ultramarine icon to the left shoulder.
The photo's are not the greatest, but I have a friend who is a professional photographer who wants to photograph my stuff so hopefully there will be good photo's soon.
Oh, and I'll take it off the pasta jar-lid when I have given it a coat of mat varnish.
Now I can devote most of my time to my venerable dreadnought, and I have also just started putting my Landraider together.
I'll update this blog as soon as i have something worth showing
Oh and Deadly Chicken, I don't 'wet blend' so I cant help you there. I use many, many light coats, so light in fact that they are transparent.

I LOVE THIS COLOR so much (saves the picture for stealing color scheme in future o_o)
It has those old vintage / regal / museum color to it.
( like looking at a painting )
Requesting tips on:
Broken road base for Ven Dred
And color used for painting blue / red / parchments.
They are the exact color i want if i ever paint my space marine (crimson fist )

Been working on my Land-raider recently.
As I don't have an airbrush yet, I figured I would paint the interior and assemble it, and the leave it there for a while. Ill see how I go, I might end up using a brush on the exterior, but I'm really not sure.
I have tried to really add some wear and tear this time, with a lot of rust stains on the white paint. The only thing that is really pristine is the Ultramarine's Icon. ( FW etched brass)
The seats look a little too clean at the moment but I'm not sure how to make them look grubby and still look good.

These are a couple of quick shots of the engine of my Landraider. The photo's aren't great unfortunately, they seem dark and lacking colour.
The other side is virtually done, so ill be able to start gluing it together soon hopefully.

Not oils, just very watered down acrylics and lots of very thin coats. Along with the citadel washes, you can get a load of different rust, dirt, patina/corrosion effects.

It is indeed
The stuff I used on that base is from an old cork tile, but my wife (who scrapbooks like crazy) gave me a sheet of this stuff:-
http://www.karenfosterdesign.com/shop/product.asp?p=1443
now, its a lot thinner that a regular tile, but its very flexible, sticky backed, and comes in 12x12 inch sheets for a couple of bucks a time.
I plan on using it for the road surface on my terrain boards... (when I get time to continue them )

Cork for road?! Idea stollen! Like alot of other people have said, I'm not a fan of the smurfs either but you have done an awesome job on them. I really like the work on the interiour of the Landraider, and can't wait to see what you do with the exterior. Quick question, how long did it take you to do each of the projects so far?

Too long, way, way, waaaay too long. I checked the dates on the Dread posts, roughly 3 months from start to finish.
Unfortunately with 2 kids, a busy job, and an unhealthy mmorpg addiction I dont spend as much time painting as I'd like. I tend to grab an hour here and there when I can.
One thing to remember about mini painting is that its a hobby. That sounds obvious but another word for hobby is 'pastime' its something we do to pass the time. I enjoy taking my time with these mini's and spending my time painting them. Its something I do to unwind after a stressful day at work.
I don't have the urge to get 2000 points painted by next weekend. I'm happy taking my time to enjoy the painting and not getting burned out.
