I'm on the fence with the new FW stuff. I would prefer to stick to the tried and tested Mig products.

Anyway, that LR interior is mega-sweet. I'm half-arsing my valk interior but you're going all out.

I just had these turn up in the post:-

I haven't tried them yet though. I had ordered these before I realised that FW now do powders, and also I see that our very own Les Bursley has started selling his own range of powders too.

for you guys in the UK Forgeworld isn't a bad option, for people this side of the pond, the postage costs and time can be a real pain. The ONLY thing I miss about England is that I used to live 20 minutes drive from Warhammer-World so I could just go and pick up anything I wanted.

Ha ! Thanks for the compliment, but not by a long shot. Its OK for a first attempt but there are many, many dreads out there painted better than mine.

My inspiration comes from GreyDeath's 'Sons of Medusa' army. Now there is a fantastically painted dread. My next dread will be much more worn and weathered.

Here's a shot of how the build is coming along.

The doors are just held on with stickytac as they need to come off when I spray it white. As they need to stay with a black undercoat for painting blue.

The bolters are also not glued so that they can be coated black.

The main lasers are going to be put together last as some parts need to be white and some black.

Oh and I need to spray the techmarine thats poking out of the top with the bolters.

I'm really enjoying your traditional style of smurfs. Very well exicuted and the inside the the land raider is excellent. I'll be keeping an eye on this.

Ok,

First I feel I must apologize to anyone living in northern Alberta. This is because you could probably ALL hear me screaming, shouting, and cursing the other day when I DROPPED ! yes dropped ! my Landraider as I was taking it outside to spray.

Luckily it hit the ground with its rear corner tracks and the worst damage was that a bunch of the superglue joints popped and the whole thing came apart into 2 halves. Amazingly the huge resin panels strapped to the sides didn't get a scratch I managed to glue all the parts back together except I couldn't get into the side panel to fix the door opening mechanism :( so now the two front doors open separately. But hey. it could have been a lot worse.

Eventually I did manage to get to spray it and get it back to my desk unharmed, and here it is.

The sponsons are not glued on yet as I want to atleast basecoat the parts first. The turrets are all separate and as you can see the bolters are missing. I just about finished painting them.

They have a little wear and tear on them as you can see a few oily rust streaks in the paintwork. Its quite subtle at this point but I will be increasing the amount of weathering as I go from top to bottom. That being said I think ill be going for a look that includes weathering, along with general wear and tear, rather than much actual battle damage.

After a little experimenting I found that 1 part Asurmen Blue Wash to 4 parts water makes for a great subtle blue-grey that can be run into panel lines on a white vehicle. You can see a little of it in the Bolter image but the photo doesn't show it well, hopefully I will be able to show it a little better in the future.

Oh and a final piece of news, I picked up an airbrush today, so I'll be playing around learning how to use that so I can use it to help with the blue stripes on the sides, plus the heavier weathering of the lower portions.

Till next time...
