Too bad you won't be alive long enough to enjoy it: GW should be in orbit above your house very soon to drop the C&D order, Exterminatus style...

Man that looks good! Would also like to know how much you spent in materials - I assume it was quite inexpensive, but plasticard and whatnot still has a cost.

I keep thinking about scratchbuilds but heck they look like a lot of work. Makes be not feel bad about spending $15 on a rhino from Ebay.

Might have to look into Land Raiders though, can't ever find those at a good price ; /

I'm not like them, but I can pretend.

Observations on complex unit wound allocation: If you're feeling screwed, your opponent is probably doing it right.

Speaking from personal experience, scratch building vehicles is extremely time consuming. I've built about four mk2 rhinos and each one has taken around four hours to build up to a basic level of detail, and those were made out of cardstock and foamcore not the harder to work with plasticard. If you want some rhinos quickly spend the money to buy them, but if you have time to burn and you love modeling go for the scratch build.

BTW, this is a great tutorial! The end product looks pretty darn good. I'm looking forward to trying it out.

I have been out of the net for a while and thanks to all comments. I should start posting some photos soon. There is a series of Warhammer armor and things that I am engaged in right now over at papermodelers and zealot. I will post some of those projects here soon enough. See you all around in the forums.

As a longtime paper modeler, my hat is off to you!

For the record guys, you get faster at this, as you go. It takes me about a week in the evenings to build a Warlord titan, and about 3 days to build a drop pod. You can see a paper drop pod and 3 rhino's of mine here:

Keep up these paper tutorials man; with GW's prices verging on insane, scratch builders like us aren't looking so far out in left field as before!

Thanks for the comments Guys. I do enjoy scratch building and the price is right. Even when I buy a model, I spend just as much int he painting and detailing as I do with my paper models. The saving grace about paper models, is that if I make a mistake, I just print out the part that needs fixing. If you make the traditional GW models, paper also is helpful in making additional details and it is more forgiving than plasticard/styrene.

Thanks for the support Manimal. Good work on the rhinos and the drop pods. I do not play as much any more due to the constant rules and codex changes but I do love to make the models. Most of the time the motive is, "if some one did it, can I make it" I look upon my scratch building as a challenge.

This is also true for painting a model yourself you could probably send it to someone and for your time "spend" less but that't not what most people are in the hobby for:-P

That's a pretty nice final product, thanks for an awesome tutorial.
I remember an old issue of White Dwarf had plans for an Imperial Tank that was very tricky, lots of diagonal cutting and strange angles.

Yes, those were the templates for the bane blade. You can also find the tutorial and plans for the bane blade over at Zealot as well as other Imperial armor.

Yes, the old rhinos are still there and mostly used by the Sisters and Inquisitors. But thanks for your comments.
