Are chain fists really necessary with two cyclons. I could understand if you had heavy flamers and maybe AC's, but not w/ 4 krak missles! It seems a bit wasteful...no offense.

Thats the reason I like the ten man term squad w/ 2 cyclones and 3 or 4 chainfists.
Chance of getting a Kill (Wrecked/Destoyed)
Range ~ 24” ~~~ 48”
Wepn ~ AC ~~~~ CML
AV14 ~ 04.94% ~ 00.00%
AV13 ~ 09.88% ~ 07.41%
AV12 ~ 14.81% ~ 14.81%
AV11 ~ 14.81% ~ 22.22%
AV10 ~ 29.63% ~ 29.63%

An Assault Cannon has the same odds as a TL Lazcannon of dealing with heavy armour

Just an addition to the last post (and not meant as a critique): Interestingly, TL-LCs have 5% less chance of killing AV10 with one round of shooting as an Assault Cannon. However, they are 5% more efficient at dealing with AV11. After that, they are really basically the same, which astonishes me, especially in the AV14 case, where the TL-LC is really just 0,1% better than an assault cannon.

(This seemed so odd to me that I had to do the mathhammer myself. )

Chainfist are incredibly useful and you should have at least 1 to 3 in your squad its why it makes a good pairing for the CML as you have a 12 inch threat range with it.

Its useful when dealing with Ironclads etc...

Just use them they're worth the 5 points.

edit:
To the Mathhammer, that is pretty interesting so basically a 2 Asscannon squad has like a 10 percent chance to blow up a landraider.

Although almost all transports are 12 armour or less, so hrmmf.

Bear in mind though, the CML is really only needed to glance the LR if you have a chainfist (or really just a power fist).
I might be doing the math wrong, but I think you have a much better chance of glancing AV14 with a ML, and then walking over and carving it up, than with an AC.

Not better than Shrike + 10 Assault Termies, or Vulkan with 10 TH/SS termies...

After spending nearly two full turns of IG Shooting at just 5 Ass-Termies and Vulkan I'll have to agree with Hollismason.

Not better than Shrike + 10 Assault Termies, or Vulkan with 10 TH/SS termies...

But we're talking about shooty termies here.

But this is the internets . . . people can't stay on topic for more than 2 posts! That would just make far too much sense!

Stereotypes are human nature . . . oh no there I go again . . . but you have to admit that having a main topic is all well and good, but how long to people stick to it . . . but in the end that is just the natural way of things, someone makes a point that sparks something off in someone's head, they post about that, and it leads down a new path . . . that is the nature of conversation.

And yes I do chaff a load of rubbish . . . I'm well aware of it, but I enjoy to chaff the night away =D

If you're planning on having your Terminators Deep Strike, then Cyclones are good because the range enables you to engage enemies that end up over 24" away with dual utility. If they're coming out of a Land Raider, then you get the 14" vehicle catapult to add to Assault Cannons and Heavy Flamethrowers.

Though i love the trigger happy CML it's not for termis imo. Even the shooty ones are a hth choice and while getting there the AC is more viable to their case. It's generic, has lots of shots and looks great Never liked the HFlamer on termis anyway... and all the good things the CML can bring to you can be achieved by Typhoon Speeders.

Assault Cannons are your best bet. They eat through most non-MEQ troops and can pop most tanks with ease.
