OT but I do prove a point with my army. The bloodletters are converted and a tribute to old dogs I had (converted wolf heads with same exact color patterns) and my two soulgrinders were made with my kids in mind. one has a little girl on his shoulder, telling him what to do; and the other is beating a drum (my boy is in percussion in band). So yea I prove a point everytime I play.

Stomp those stupid noobs and trash talk the whole way through.
My room mate and I were in a GW store playing in a tourney and there was this twelve year old kid giving him a hard time as he lost in the first round. This was back in the 4th edition days and he played a pretty good marine gunline army. The kid wanted to play him on another table and as I was still in the tourney for the second round and he was hanging out there anyway he decided to teach the kid a lesson.
It was a brutal third turn phase out for the kid and my friend was trash talking him the whole time. I was a little embarrassed at the time but thinking back on it now it was hilarious to see a 32 year old man talking trash to a 12 year old kid. After all the kid basically did the same to him as he was losing in the first round to somebody else.

I'll say this politely as I was not there and did not catch either conversation.
Having said that, as a father of a former MTG from the age of 8-12, if I were the parent of the 12 year old me and your friend might have had a...discussion. Frankly if I were a bystander or another player and I heard a 32 year old trash talking a 12 year old we still might have a discussion or mayhaps myself having a discussion with the owner about the need for your custom in the future. I've shut down teenagers from doing same before and if you're hitting your 30s and trash talking kids er, uh...time to put the big girl panties on and grow up a little, or a lot.
Again I was not there and did not catch the conversations.

What is there to cop an attitude about? If you claim a certain build is overpowered (and can field that build) and the other player disputes that fact, then the most reasonable thing to do is conduct an experiment. As long as neither player falls into the mistaken belief of 'My worth as a person or player depends on whether I win/field a better army," it should be all good.

You were correct in that you were not there to hear either conversation. Perhaps the redshirted fellows should have stepped in and threw the kid and/or his father out in the first round of the store tourney while he was heckling my roommate who was losing pretty badly. I myself would not have stooped so low as to trash talk the kid nor would I have wanted to play a game with someone who is rude enough to heckle me while I'm playing a game with someone else. But seeing as the kid's father would not intervene and silence his son or remove him from the store; at least the kid learned a lesson. That doing bad things to people invites bad things upon yourself.
I respect most of your opinion Fraz, but why the need to throw in the little flame at the end about pulling up panties? I would have expected a little better out of a long time dakkaite and MOD like yourself.

As noted I was not there. However, taunting from a minor jackanapes should have been handled between your friend and the store owner, or your friend and the dad. I maintain my point- a 32 year old should not be heckling a child. I respect most of your opinion Fraz, but why the need to throw in the little flame at the end about pulling up panties? I would have expected a little better out of a long time dakkaite and MOD like yourself.
See if you knew me you would know to immediate lower your expectations On reflection I stand by my point, but the big boy panties was a crack and my apologies. Your comrade was not acting like an adult. Adults do not heckle 12 year olds, as you besmirch your good name just by stooping to that level. A better method is a combination of the DAD COMMAND VOICE and a remonstrance about this being a 40K tourney and not a pokemon competition-act appropriately, or the as noted quick word with the owner. (I will completely grant dad sounds like a jerk and I thought there might be some extenuating circumstances. I would never have permitted that with either of my kids). Frazzled, lowering expectations since 1869.

looks like a pretty overwhelming result for this poll...
to be fair though, I dont think its a dickish way to show them the error of their ways... youd just be demonstrating a fact.
