Show something concrete, don't boast that it's going to "revolutionize (no joke)" things. That's the moment I switch the channel.

This thread makes me happy.
One: I like to see new things (even if they look similar to void style gladiators)
Two: The thread's cynicism makes me happy. Since calling something revolutionary is kinda annoying, as marketing goes.

When I think of innovative miniature games mechanics...
WOD Combat (still by far the best dueling system)
Trinity Battleground
Silhouette (when it came out)
um... Warmachine
Void isn't (but it's a better stat-line game than 40k)
Battletech (when it came out, even though its technically a board game)
AoGs B5 Wars (which is really a refined version of SFB)
FoW, bring historical to the masses
oh, and br0th3rduck1ng Rogue Trader (40k) - SciFi+Fantasy

So, it'll be a miniature game in which not every model is the same race and class? I feel the revolution coming already!

Is it a dueling system? (1-3 miniatures per player)
Skirmish (like urban war)? (5-20 miniatures per player)
Narrative (like Inquisitor)? (hey I got a story # of miniatures per player)
Small battle (like 40k, dubious at 32)? (50-200 miniatures per player)

I think somewhere between skirmish and narrative based on player style, but I'll need to find out for certain. Anyhow, glad people are interested!

AND THAT'S NOT ALL! THEY WILL BE SITUATED ON SMALL ITEMS THAT HELP HOLD THEM UP CALLED 'BASES', WHICH WE'LL INCLUDE FREE IF YOU ORDER RIGHT NOW

Seriously speaking, the narrative/32 mm idea hasn't been done well, so sounds alluring. As long as the miniatures are pretty....I can make my own rules .

lol love the billy mays reference. I know many of you are skeptical, and I understand why. As a long time gamer I can personally tell you how much I hate it when companies make grand promises and come up short. I have seen the minis myself, though at the moment they are under wraps. HOWEVER, I can tell you that they are GORGEOUS and show you some work by the same sculptor to give you an idea of what you can see coming... also I am personally planning on getting as many of these models as I can afford.

Nope, he's bald. That's a chain, not a ponytail.

Billy Mays doesn't have chains or a ponytail.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

It seems all companies want to do is pander down to me. either you have a product I want to buy, or you don't. Don't sit there and tell me you have what I want, just show me what ya' got to sell, and I'll decide if its what I want.

On the other hand, I may just need to switch to de-caf.

Maybe you should. Unless it actually turned you off of a product that you otherwise would have bought, it doesn't hurt. Gaming products, more than anything, need ads not just to convince buyers, but to raise awareness. There's a big difference. I don't mind product announcments and the like.

Actually, I do hate any ARG/viral marketing type ploy, form J.J. Abrams films to "teasers" such as this. I can understand if the OP has a NDA and is just really excited about a project hes working on, but if that's really the case, then why post? Either the product kicks ass and he can tell us specifically why, or there's no actual news, just pointless hype.

I am always leery of things like this. It really could be the next best thing in miniatures, or it could turn out to be the miniature version of the old carny "man eating chicken." Either way, hearing hyperbole with nothing to back it up just sours it when its finally released, at least for me. It puts me in a "well, now you have to prove it," kinda mood.

You should have put up the female models. I'm sure the 10yr olds would have gone gaga.

Well put. The whole, "I know something that's gonna be awesome, but I can't tell you what it is so instead I'm just going to try to convince of it by my personal testimonial" schtick is quite wearying.

Here's some more info:

Direct quote-
In regards to the miniature range, there are currently 7 classes of
fighters with 6 playable races (True Human, Near Humans, Textrix, Durus,
Excorio and Kombots) plus special star fighters known as Pit Ronins who
hire themselves out to players on a fight by fight contract.

Good looking miniatures will not cause a "revolution" in miniature war games. It doesn't matter if they are cheap, or well sculpted, or pre-painted. good miniatures can enhance a game, but they are not the game itself.

How about getting permission to talk about the game rules? What makes this game stand out? I know the sculpts will look good, but you want to excite me, tell me the miniatures are as bad as Chronopia miniatures, but the rules are just as good.

Tell me the game has the complexity of Battletech, but the ease of play and learning curve of Bloodbowl.

In other words, what about the company or game is new and exciting? do you have a "page 5" mantra like Privateer Press? Are you targeting a specific demographic? Is the game like playing an RPG but with miniatures? Is it more like playing a card game? Is it set in its own world, or are you making a modular game similar to VOR?

How are you involved in the company? Did you do the concept art in the first post? If you cant answer these questions, can you tell us why? can you direct someone higher on the company food chain to this thread, and have them talk to us?
