Has KK been like this since he joined Dakka, or is this the effect of prolonged exposure?

Damn does that mean I need too buy the Sigmar trilogy even if I'm only interested in the Nagash story? :-(

.....errrmm...I'm not sure really, but you already knew there was going to be some interaction between the two series as Sigmar fights Nagash at one point yes ?

But....

Spoiler:
Basically in Empire Sigmar fights and defeats a necromancer who is empowered and corrupted by a powerful magical crown. He claims this crown for himself and even wears it for a while, whilst it whispers to him and tries to corrupt him. We're also given hints about some evil ( and seemingly undead) BIG BAD GUY who will be in Sigmar's future.

.. But you should be buying the series anyway. The first book is.... alright. It's not especially bad in anyway, just kind of average in parts and nothing you wouldn't have read before in X thousand fantasy novels. But it's competent at least. I found Empire to be a much better book, the characters are stronger and even, gasp, grow a little in parts too. And Azazel is pretty cool.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

I hope it is just from his exposure to the OT board. BTW, is that still around?

Saw the ''novel'' instore today, flicked through it a little, it seemed OK but very short (100 pages tops).

I was exposed at an early age to the sensitive and poetic works of Mr. Ian Watson. If you can find it, read his out of print book 'Space Marine' it will

Ah c'mon Kyoto - it had Scouts boarding a Tyranid Hive ship onto to end up having a conversation with a Zoat... a Zoat that goes crazy and tears one of the main character's heads off (Oh Biff - yes, his name was Biff - how I miss the so...).

Plus Lexandro D'aquabes was awesome.

It also broght the phrase ejaculating bolter to the English language so I guess it wasn't all bad.

Wasn't that also the source of access sphincter when referring to a proto-hive ship

Oddly enough, what I remember most from Ian Watson's books is his description of how the discharge of a bolter sounds: Raaaaaark-pop

The Inquisition Wars trilogy describes it as Raaark-pop.

Pretty lame. I very much prefer the boner-inducing description they use now: the twin-thunderclap.

Remember how bolters sounded during gameplay in Dawn of War until one of the Dark Crusade patches came out? It sounded really soft and dinky, like pipipipipipi. Heavy bolters, OTOH, sounded good and proper, as did Grey Knight Stormbolters.

In one game (the one with the Ultramarines hunting a chaos guy) a bolter hitting a cultist gave a nice SPLAT sound and the cultist just transformed into a puddle.

The bolter sounds in DoWII sound pretty damn good. Kind of like a rivet gun with a bit more "explosion" sound, if that makes any sense.

Might get the Space Hulk novella - I generally enjoy Gav Thorpe when he's not writing my codex.
