Taken from the Tabletop Gaming News site:

The Black Library have announced that they will be releasing a Space Hulk novel.

From their announcement:

Well, the genestealer is out of the proverbial now, with GW announcing the new edition of Space Hulk this morning. To celebrate the return of this great game, BL is releasing Space Hulk: The Novel, by none other than Mr Gav Thorpe. This novella goes on sale on 5th of September, or pick up a copy at UK Games Day (price £3 UK/$5 US).

Let the fun begin

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

About to eat your Avatar...

Is it going to be any good? I like the concept quite a bit, but the board-game just isn't my style. It looks like GW put a fair amount of thought into this one, and the book is only 5$, that is quite good.

How long is it though , I would hope for it to be at least 150 pages, but I am sure it could be quite good even with 100 pages.

I can't see it being very good. I keep trying to go back & read Horus Heresy books, but Ive just been having a bit of a Stephen King fest & the writing in the HH novels just dosent cut it for me anymore. Ill have to wait a bit before I read them again, I think.

Ill definitely get the Thousand Sons/Space Wolf novels in november though.

This leads me to infer that you think stephen king's writing is ... good? He has so many problems with his pacing and plot development and cloaks it all in m night shmylan-esque plot twists x.x I havent read the H.H books yet however, so dont think im defending them lol.

I find Gav an okay writer, he has written some good stuff, like Angels of Darkness and Malekith.

Gav writes 'fun' fluff. In my Chaos Codex review I mentioned that despite my utter lothing for the Codex, the fluff in it was fun to read. I also enjoyed Kill Team.

I won't be buying this, but the fact that it's Space Hulk and about Blood Angels means that the guy in our group that buys all the books (all of them) will get it.

I thought both the two tie in books like this were pretty good actually.

Mr. Long's WFB one was well thougt out and had characters in it and resolved itself nicely without being too OTT.

The thing that impressed me the most about Mr. Kyme's effort was the fact that most of the marines actually thought and used tactics rather than just shouting a lot and then "preparing to sell themselves dearly". Still some mad fights in it but i did dig the way Telion and Co. were used.

I found a preview on line.

With a powerful WHOOMP the boarding torpedo fired towards the spincher of the tyranid-infested vessel.

"OH YES!" Brother Maximus ejaculated loudly! "By the Emperor I love feeling the powerful thrust!" Seizing his joystick he manfully guided the rock-hard boarding torpedo into the small vulnerable opening.

With WHOOSH! the boarding torpedo spilled out it's potent load into the hot and moist tunnel.

"OH YES!" Brother Maximus ejaculated loudly! "By the Emperor I love entering hot and moist tunnels!"

I hear it will be the first BL book that has to be kept under the counter.

No offence Kyoto, but we can kinda blame this parody on Ian Watson, who hasn't written a 40K book in a millenia, so it's getting a bit old.

I hope the whole book is like this. It needs to be full of Genestealers penetrating the Terminator's virgin armour and a Librarian impaling a Broodlord upon his mighty, energy-filled rod.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I enjoyed Thorpe's Angels of Darkness and the first Chancers novel (the second was pants). He is a decent writer and this is a fun concept for a quickie novel. If it's well written, I may own up to it.

Written by Thorpe? No thank you. But I guess we can take heart in the fact that if he's writing novels, he's not writing Codex material.

Both very good.

The Fimir are in Empire.

Briefly anyway.

I found Heldenhammer and Nagash both good "historical" reads. I especially liked how Heldenhammer followed that other BL publication "the Life of Sigmar" so interestingly.

Empire starts to weave the tale of Sigmar and Nagash together, slowly anyway. I'll be intrigued to see how they handle the confrontation between the two. I'm hoping they'll perhaps do something similar to the forthcoming 1k sons/wolves but not vikings books and mix and match the perspectives.

Empire though

Spoiler:
has the best depiction of a blood thirster yet in the warhammer world though

THe BL posted another preview today, apparently from later in the book when the coming of age subplot is taking form.

"Oh great Maximus!" Brother Novice Innocentius moaned softly "Whatever shall we do? Our mighty weapons are spent! We have shot our load! Now they hang limb in our hands, utterly impotent."

"OH YES!" Maximus ejaculated loudly! "Yes our long thick weapons are spent, for now, until they rise again, which will be quite soon, at least in my case, cause that's the kind of man I am, but for now forget not that we have another option!"

"ANother option mighty Maximus? What can it be?" Innocentius moaned softly.

"OUR FISTS!" Maximus ejaculated loudly. "Let us stride forward manfully and give them all a good fisting!"

"BOO-YEAH!" The Space Marine ejaculated loudly! And Maximus noted that young Innocentius ejaculated the loudest of all."
