I've also started clipping off the bayonets from lasguns
I also don't like putting small bits like grenades or breathing masks because they are hard to put on accurately and consistently (at least for me lol).

I dislike the horns on my CSM but confess to using them due to my in ability to trim them and keep the helmets looking good. Topknots and re-breathers don't bother me as much.

I do the same thing. What's the point of even having power armour if you're just going to leave the helmet off and get shot in the face.

Ditto.

I use bare heads only because I'm too lazy to cut AOBR and BFM sergeant heads.

It's gotta be all the stupid fiddly packs and canteens you get with the Imperial Guardsmen. They live for like two turns, why give them anything? Unless they're Vets, but then it's just the backpack bitz...they need to make more of those...

Ironically I once made a marine army with not a helmet in sight! Only 600pts mind you but I though bare heads made the miniatures more characterful. I raided friends bits boxes and used heads from the Marines, Chaos, IG, Empire various Elf and Even Bretonian ranges. Not a repeated head amongst the lot!

I guess I'm the different one here, I dont mind topknots too much, I like variation and I turn a lot of them into ponytails. I also love unhelmeted marines, but I guess thats just because I play Space Puppies, and they hate helmets.

I do hate the little pouches that you get on a marine sprue, they are off-sized and look horrible no matter where you put them.

THE HORUS HERESY: Emprah: Hours, go reconquer the galaxy so there can be a new golden age. Horus: But I should be Emprah, bawwwwww! Emprah: Magnus, stop it with the sorcery. Magnus: But I know what's best, bawwwwww! Emprah: Horus, tell Russ to bring Magnus to me because I said so. Horus: Emprah wants you to kill Magnus because he said so. Russ: Fine. Emprah's always right. Plus Ole Red has already been denounced as a traitor and I never liked him anyway. Russ: You're about to die, cyclops! Magnus: O noes! Tzeentch, I choose you! Bawwwww! Russ: Ah well. Now to go kill Horus. Russ: Rowboat, how have you not been doing anything? Guilliman: . . . I've been writing a book. Russ: Sigh. Let's go. Guilliman: And I fought the Word Bearers! Horus: Oh shi--Spess Puppies a'comin? Abbadon: And the Ultramarines, sir. Horus: Who? Anyway, this looks bad. *enter Sanguinis* What are you doing here? Come to join me? Now prepare to die! *mortally wounds Emprah*Emprah: Au contraire, you dick. *kills Horus* Dorn: Okay, now I just plug this into this and . . . okay, it works! Emprah? Hellooooo? Jonson: I did nothing! Guilliman: I did more nothing that you! Jonson: Nuh-uh. I was the most worthless! Guilliman: Have you read my book? Dorn: No one likes that book. Khan: C'mon guys. I don't mind topknots on Orks, and think they're a nice opportunity to add more color to da boyz. I think they look 100% stupid on anyone else though (I'm looking at you, Abaddon!)

However, I absolutely LOATHE the "blast-back" hair on the Space Wolves and Dark Eldar sprues that Thor665 talked about on the first page. They look ridiculous, and I hate them too much to even put them on bikers.

I also seldom use beakie helmets, with the exception of my Rogue Trader marines. As a result I've got about 20 beakie heads in the swap shop

I hate the Strap chest pieces that come on a space marine sprue. It looks like they *should* have a jump pack but don't. I've only ever used 1 on a flamer becasue i intended to put some fuel tanks on his back, and i ran out of proper torsos. (never got around to it though)

also, all the extra kit that some on kroot carnivore sprues. I outfitted my first squad with them; NEVER AGAIN. so much work and it looks gaudy.

Not quite on topic, but the Guard Infantry sprues frustrate me mildly. If you're not using a Special Weapon, you need to use an additional Bayonet equipped Lasgun, and the equipment pouches don't have enough empty bayonet holsters, thus someone ends up with two bayonets.

But on topic? The extra poncey bits on Empire Soliders. They are line infantry, and quite busy as it is!

I actually like the topknots on my orks. Never the Kommandoes(not sneaky enough!) or the Burnaz(That's just a horrible, horrible combination), but I feel it fits the Lootas perfectly, and some of the Nobz as well. And they wouldn't look to shabby on a biker either.

That, and I like the ones on the Eldar pathfinders. They're not as obnoxiously stupid looking as most other armies, or as punky looking as the orks', they manage to look fitting, y'know?

But on pretty much everyone else, they look freaking slowed. CSM, the occasional SM, DE, other Eldar models, Tau... topknots just suck for all of them.

I hate the topknots, and pretty much any ammo packs, grenades etc, especially the magazines on the eldar. I also dont like all the little lumps on the eldar, especially on their legs. Would have been so much better if tehy werent there and their legs were just a bit skinier. :(

I don't mind the top knots. Most my orks don't have them though. I tend to use the extra bits in weird and interesting ways for my nobz and 'ard boyz. My 'Ardboy Nob has the select heaviest armoring I could put together. For Nobz in my Nobz mob one has every bit of gear that I could find and put on him that was spikey, another has an incredible number of skulls (he has the double buzz saw large choppa, seemed like it would score him a lot of decapitated enemies). I just got a few dozen purity seals, and will soon be having some fun with those.

No, they are just random lumps on their legs, kinda ,ike gems, but they arent painted like, not by anyone. There are 4 on each calf alone, there just stupid. And it will be a hell of a lot of work trimming them off, as then you have to reshape the legs a bit as well, as the look like their wearing some odd from of ugg boots then

When I was going to do mine, I found that if you shaved down the jaw a bit on the side that didn't have the comm unit, they looked a bit more normal. The hair is awful still, but at least the head was okay.

Interesting how universal the dislike of topknots on Orks is. I'm in the same camp - I always remove them. And I agree that the shouting Ork head with the topknot is one of the best of the heads. I don't know why some of you hate Orks wearing helmets, as I think it's a good look. Remember not to throw the topknots away, as they make rather good as flames for your burnas.

Marine knives and hunter-killer launchers are extremely well represented in my bits boxes. I don't even bother putting the newer Sergeant heads in the bits box - they're so crap I just throw them away. But I think it's the gunsight from the Ork Boyz sprue that is the most useless plastic component. For all GW's increasing prowess with plastic miniature design, they frequently include components which are too fragile to be practical for wargaming (the whispy swords in the Empire plastic sets are another good example).

Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Hay guys. Is it just me, or do most of the bitz that GW includes to "add character" completely fail in that respect. All those tabbard, scroll, pouches, gun belts, extra weapons, sheathed swords, icons etc... they just look like chunky turds that have been haphazzardly glued on instead of appearing like they belong on the model. In order to get around this issue and actually use some of said bits, you need to have some modicum of sculpting ability - which is a PITA.

Needless to say, I don't use many of them.

I also don't like topknots, or horns on CSM. I cuts them off and put them in the "round file".
