If I recall correctly, this FNP thingy which seems to be oh so hot and sexy requires you to have armour saves right? Any assault unit worth its point has at least 1 power weapon right? Any shooty infantry-slaying unit has AP4 multi-shot weapons yah? FNP is only useful when you can rely on getting, and failing, your 50/50 saves. I know this kind of thinking is a little unorthodox, but wouldn't it be not unlikely that your opponent will actually keep out of their LOS until they can assault the gitz? Or failing that shoot with more accurate guns from outside the range of the Gitz? When I select a unit for a list, I think about not what it can do for me, not what it can do to the enemy, but what my enemy WILL try to do to it. Then I think about how I can stop that. Gitz make my brain hurt because there are so many more things that can earn themselves in points or allow others to cover both their own cost and the cost of the bait/screen/fodder unit. EDIT: EXAMPLE: I started taking Ghaz in small 500 point and 750 point battles, in a 5-way match I/He caused; a) the most casualities, b) slew a Daemon Prince, broke a chaos marine unit and ATE another, c) removed a sentinel unit (the IG player's sentinels have a history of winning plain stupid battles), and d) made it to the final turn only to fall to a damn ninjarring Shas'O. In an early 750 point battle, Ghaz not only won the battle for me (he was 50 points more than the remaining marines), he killed a scout squad and pushed that scout character off the field, humiliated a Dreadnought, broke the commander and the squad he sat with, and at the end of it still had 3 wounds. (I will mention that the SM player was an idiot who thought combat squads split across the battlefield meant I would split my forces and not as I did do by charging the HQ, Dread, Scouts with SpecChar, through cover). In both examples what I did was take a HQ (horribly broken character) and run him in combat where we would bring the most pain, cover his points cost and the cost of getting him there, and take SFA of the guaranteed aggression from my opponents. With regards to Gits I don't see how they could either be the bait or the bear trap.

Also littlenibbler Orks aren't about armour saves.
Orks are about having too many models on the table, and wasting the other guy's time with your movement phase.
Orks are about having the toughest units on the table.
Orks are about not caring about how many bodies are left in a long winding trail until the squad is down to less than a third its starting strength.
Orks are about rolling more dice then you can count without the aid of a calculator or a pen and paper.
Orks are about having totally fething insane characters tearing gak down like Doc Grotsnik, Ghazghkull or Snikrot.
Orks are about being too fething awesome to die...

Actually, you are mistaken.
You may take your FNP 4+ to ignore the wound against anything except: AP1-2, Insta-gib strength weapons, and CC weapons that ignore armor.
You do not need to be able to make an armor save against a ranged attack in order to use FNP. FNP may be used against any shots AP3 or worse, as long as they are not double the units toughness.

Ok well thats still not going justify taking Gitz anyway.
Just out of curiosity, how long would they last against a Leman Russ Demolisher.....?

LOL...no it doesn't.
If you would have read the whole thread you would see that I am the biggest "hater" of Flash Gits of them all. I find them pointless waste of points and complete fail
I was just correcting your view of FNP...it is actually a great ability. But, it still doesn't make Gits whole their points.

Actually Alerian I have noticed you around when someone talks about Gitz.
A couple of friends saw the models and practically begged me to field them. Then I showed them the rules... They literally did Roll on the floor and laugh their arses off.
Its cropped up a few times lately, with people trying to make a conclusive argument that they do work as a unit, I think thats just childish pleading though, as their arguments mostly consist of "They Look Good".
