No it's not hard to use correct punctuation or to spell things correctly... But how someone types should not warrant people being rude and bad mannered!

I'll tell you what; you spell out full words and I will be polite to you. Plus, I didn't say the way you typed made you a moron. I said, "...make yourself LOOK like a moron..." which I happen to think, it does.

Lucifer2583 wrote:Ghid - How's my grammar holding up you arse!!??

Oh the irony.
Your grammar is lousy, since you asked. There should be a comma after 'up'. What you wrote implies that your grammar is keeping my arse from falling. Thanks for the chuckle.

Did somebody quote Shakespeare? How is saying 'l8r' and 'ur' in any way, shape, or form at all related to English Literature?

So, what do you think about the box set? Worth the money? (on topic)

The boxset was a very good purchase, and was worth every pound spent! Thanks for asking Ghid.

However it would've been nicer if GW had made the 3-D corridors that was rumoured for it though. But never mind we cant always have what we want eh?

OK, for the SECOND time, and this time straight from the Dakka Rules:

"Please remember that posting and reading online is a visual format and as such the spelling, grammar and look of your posts is the only way others understand what you are saying. Therefore, in order to be polite, all users are expected to make an effort to use proper spelling, grammar and punctuation and should refrain from using internet shorthand or other distracting methods of writing, such as writing a post completely bolded, with capital letters, in a strange color, etc. "

So yes, please make EVERY effort to follow this rule, along with all of Dakka's other rules.

Here's a link, just in case anyone wants to review them:

Ghidorah do you seriously have nothing better to do than to go off topic and nitpick someones grammar on a toy soldier forum?

It is if you haven't been taught properly and there is very little emphasis put on spelling and grammar at school these days.

It's a good indicator that they are though. Using abbreviated words when quickly sending a message during a game or texting is one thing, doing the same when you have a fully functional keyboard in front of you and are posting on a forum is quite another. It is lazy and it is disrespectful.

Pardon my ignorance but I understand it is lazy. But what I don't understand is how is it disrespectful?

Now, why is it that when I say it, I'm an donkey-cave and everybody feels like coming out of the woodwork to make personal insults at me?

Caesarius Prime wrote:On a serious note, I could give a rat's ass if people want to make themselves look like morons in texts and other mediums that allow very limited characters. There's a reason for it and it makes sense. Plus, I don't have to read it because I hate texting (and IM bs) so I don't partake. You want to talk with me? F*****g call me. You have my number or you couldn't text me. Plus, you're HOLDING your goddamned phone.
However, on a message board forum such as this, you have PLENTY of time and character allotment to type out full damned words. When you don't put three more letters and an apostrophe with "ur", you're just being lazy.

So, if people want to subject me to their lazy, idiotic, asspickleness, I'll keep being a gakker about it.

Sue me.
While it admittedly is a little more colorful than what you said, and a few extra sentence-enhancers, I said essentially the same thing. Yet, I get this guy:

Sort of like you just did? Do YOU have nothing better to do that jump into a thread that had nothing to do with you merely to hop on the band wagon and hurl an insult at me?
Sure, I have a plethora of better things to do than call out people's horrible typing habits. One of these "better things to do" is come home from a 14 hour, overnight shift at work and sit down to read a little Dakka before hitting the rack. So, I go to read a thread and see people saying "4ward" and "ur". These people have just ruined MY "better things to do" for the morning. All of a sudden I'm the bad guy?

Also, if you had actually READ the replies instead of just reading enough to get your bulls... remarks in at my expense, you would've seen that I was on a friend's computer. Which doesn't happen to be at my house. Which means I was "out of the house". Which renders your last comment to nothing more than an unrelated insult for no reason at all. Never even heard of you before, dude. Stfu or gtfo.

People, MODS, like me or hate me, I don't care. I call a spade a spade.
Despite being smartassed about it, I tried to phrase my original statement about his typing in a humorous way. In retrospect, sure, it could come across as rude. My apologies for that. After that initial post though, I feel that I was not being being impolite in any way. shape, or form. I never directly attacked anybody. Never called anybody names, never singled anybody out for abuse, nor did I say a single word that was unrelated to either topic that this thread ultimately became about. I even tried to get back on topic after Alpharius stepped in the first time. Hell, I even offered to share my milk with JD!!!

There's a difference between being rough around the edges and being impolite. I permanently reside at the former. I have all the subtlety of a hurtling brick. Like I said earlier, sue me.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Im just saying you need to worry a little less about how some random guy on a toy soldier forum posts and focus on yourself.

Theres a big difference between calling you out on it and coming in here and writing pages and pages on some kids grammar.

If you cant see that then you have bigger problems than needing something to do.

Because it clutters the forum with posts that are often hard to read; just like all ALL CAPS are a no no. It also suggests that you don't care enough about the thread to put any effort into what you are typing.
I don't see any difference between commenting on really bad spelling etc and telling someone that their mini looks like gak, at least as long as the criticism is constructive.

On another note, that girl on the left looks like she's about to deliver something special from her boyfriend at the other girl.
