I'd be tempted to add gunfire and explosion damage to the loyalist markings on the Chimera. It looks excellent although I have to agree that the Valkyrie makes more sense in the masters livery.....A Valkyrie would also be able to escape the Zombies rather to easily. I can't quite imagine them capturing one in usable condition.....I'd just fly the hell away if I saw a bunch of Zombies after my brains!

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

For the valk I would either go with the evil black and red look or have it broken looking but still flyable and filled to the brim with members of the legion of the undead.
Also this is my favorite idea for an army i've seen on dakka so keep up the great work.

I know it's been over a week since the last update; sorry! But it's for the best of reasons; after 4 months without work, I'm finally back on the nine to five. So yay me, boo for time crunches.
Having said that, the bases are in and done; as I had hoped and prayed, I think they do tie the commandos/zombies together nicely!
Another picture barrage tomorrow if I can get my roommate/brother/photographer to give me a hand (it's one dude, I promise).

Alrighty folks. Firstly, my finished tech bases:
Who doesn't love a little hazard striping...
I think that back left zombie is my new favourite; poor guy got eviscerated!
Also, my WIP Valkyrie; I decided to use it as the fluff ride for my commandos (in 90% of my lists, a CCS and vet squad), though one of them will likely be the passengers in most games anyway. Now, keep in mind a lot of the detailing, weathering and nose/wing art is still on the way.
You can somewhat see the gunner in the cockpit, illuminated by his targeting computer. (much easier to see "eye are elle" )
I think the grey edging might be a little too strong.... what do you think?
Here you can see the Multiple Rocket Pod loadout, though I have everything magnetized to swap over to a Vendetta. As a matter of fact, there're almost 20 magnets in this darn thing! (both wing mounts, both nacelle mounts, and the flying stand and cockpit both detach from the frame; I don't mess around )
Enough from me, I'd like to hear what people think! Primarily I'm looking for input on what other people think would look good for wing art. The nose is likely to be similar to the teeth found on the Forgeworld Valkyrie Decal Sheet, and for the wings I'm so far thinking some stylised bird wings. Somewhat similar to those on the FW sheet, but likely blood red and coming to a point rather than a flat end. Perhaps some skeletal bat wings like the ones at the bottom though obviously a different scale/pose. I might have to goof around with photoshop for a bit to see what I like.
So that's my update for last week's work! Coming up: 2 russes to churn through, a second infantry squad to finish (just finishing base colouring now), and a CCS to construct/paint. I'm looking forward to them, I've got some ideas...

The models look rocking on those tech bases, and you gotta love such a nice clean black with red OSL I do dig how the zombi troops are so starkly differentiated from the elite black armor dudes too.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

Just looked through here, and your zombified Guardsmen are fantastic. You've done a great job with them!
As for the Valkyrie, I'd say go with the bat wings - they'd look much more menacing than bird wings, and if you wanted, you could also add some torn and bloody wing membranes to them as well - a zombified bat, perhaps!

Ouze on GW: "I'd like to be like, hey baby, you're a freak but you just got too much crazy going on, and I don't hook up with bunny boilers. But then Necrons are going to come out, and I'm going to be like damn girl, and then next thing you know, it's angry sex time again.
It's complicated."
