I don't know if they've announced no expansions, but the idea of promoting a limited
production game with expansions would be rather silly.

How would they determine an appropriate number of expansions to produce? You
can't expect it to work out as 1:1 as some of the boxes sold are sitting in "investments"
and people who become interested in the game because of the expansion won't have
a primary market to rely on.

I guess it might work if they did the pre-order thing with the expansion, but if GW's
goal is to constantly produce products for new buyers, expansions for a dead
game don't really fit that bill.

Do you praise a criminal for admitting to his crime(s) in the interrogation room? Of the laundry list of things GW should get, praise is pretty far down the list, I think.

Space Hulk is GW's best boxset in a long time imo (and a top candidate for best ever) and the miniatures really show how far this company has come. Not to mention its a really fun game!

As for the marketing, while I doubt anyone is much of a fan of such tactics it did put the internet community on the edge of their seat and once it was finally released SH seemed to fly off of GW's shelves since they went store only before the actual release date. I do believe that the marketing ploy and marketing the product as 'limited edition' helped get such a reaction but it could be argued that SH would've had similar results with a more typical marketing campaign. Then again GW's marketing has always had a lot to be desired anyway. :(

I did but it just feels really strange quoting my own posts.

London.

I really can't see what all the fuss is about.

It's an overpriced box for a start, and all old games are collectors editions someday. You have to laugh at the people who'll pay triple the RRP for a game that's no longer available.
The models are fine. I think the Marines of a high standard but the 'stealers are nothing new; a troop type that needs updating looks-wise anyway in my opinion.

I'd be careful of praising GW too much, lest the Space Hulk price tag affects those two other games come their re-release...

I really should be spending my time more constructively.

Anyone remember what the original Space Hulk cost back in the day?

I think it was £20.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I don't get why people worry about the rules for other races so much as examples orks and daemons models and genesteaer rules and tau and necron models for terminators. now remember these are examples not the definitive guide. huzzah new races without different rules.

I think it's funny that people are trying to sell the game on Bartertown for $120 plus shipping already when you can still buy it direct.

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity......
