Any near Space Hulk boxes near Dayton, OH? The two independent stores in town are out, but I'm not above taking a short road trip with the wife.

None left in my area at all!

Though that might be something to do with people I think are extremely selfish buying multiple copies to split and sell online. I get why they do it, I just wish they didn't. Lots of people missed out thanks to that.

Is it worth picking up all the left over SH then in hope to resell them later?

Or is GW going to remake them later when people have 20+ SH ready for sale on ebay -_-

I really wish they would print another run just so those fethers on eBay don't profit as much as they think they will.

They won't print another run any time soon because:
1) They clearly stated so
2) Even with the mad rush over the announced "limited run" and selling roughly 85% right away, there are still quite a few hundred, maybe even a few thousand, copies sitting on store shelves.

The limited run is what made it a sudden cash generator. Another run would be a gradual seller, not what they were after. They don't want to get stuck with more as long as it's taking to get rid of the last copies they already have. Taxes on inventory and valuable shelf space are both very good reasons not to do another run.

Finally, GW deliberately got out of the board game business years ago, they don't want their marketing strategy online or in their stores mucked up with a bunch of board games. Again, this was a great cash generator as a one shot deal, not a shift in long-term design and marketing strategy. They are not training their new employees how to demonstrate Space Hulk, just the core games as usual.

As for eBay sellers, Space Hulk is just one more collectible (or it will be after a while) for sale there. It doesn't make everyone selling it a bad person unless everyone who ever sold anything on eBay or who tried to do so is a bad person. Everyone needs money for necessities and if they are in this hobby and they're selling on eBay they are likely fueling their future purchases by selling old unwanted items or collectibles as best they can. Hardly cause for disdain.

All good points, but all I was saying is that I wish they would, I know they won't and I understand their reasons for not doing so.

Second, I too have sold stuff on eBay, so it's not that which bothers me. If it was an old copy someone dug out of his closet having completely forgotten about it, and genuinely had no use for it, I could see it going for quite a bit of money, but the game just came out and there are already people putting ludicrous Buy It Now prices on them, as if it already were a decades-old collectible.

I walked right by another six copies in a GW store yesterday. Perhaps I should buy them all up?!

You know, it's all extremely helpful saying your Store still has some copies guys...but you know what would really help?

Naming the Store!

Get the OP to ammend his first post with a collection and count of where and how many. Then those wanting might be able to grab a copy without getting scalped on Ebay!

Ha, I noticed that too! He keeps putting "Goes on ebay for $80 like you were saying. You think he's maybe lower it, clearly no one is interested at that price.

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. just noticed this subject and something occurred to me was: if people are eager enough to pay significant extra $$$ for the cost to buy a copy of SH, then how many other enthusiasts are hunting down that local trains & planes hobby shop that only carries the slimmest amount of GW stuff, but does have a copy of Space Hulk? I think i'm gonna go ask my FLGS (but actually without a truly G part of G) owner.

I bought a copy of SH fully intending to get a second copy eventually to resell, but after opening that first one I can only say I would buy a second copy to begin a Blood Angels or Nids army with the contents of two.

Oh and look, GW thought the same thing so we just started hearing rumors about a BA codex... AFTER A NIDS CODEX ! Man, after you think about it, I wonder if GW isn't some kind of kickbutt stock$$$ making business? I mean what changed in the marketing of Marvel comics stock that caused it to balloon DURING a recession to the point that Disney would buy it? Am I watching too much Mad Men?

Anyway my local GW crack connection is in Townsend... across the street from my school.

And can you believe he has NO tables? Because some of these local stores are just regular dudes just selling GW stuff and paying their bills.

Please excuse this if it comes across as ignorant, but, was Space Hulk popular in the states before this version?

For a game which had such a buzz surrounding it over here it suprises me that there are still copies floating about in the US stores. Are board games not so popular with you guys?

Space Hulk was popular enough to sell decently as a board game and a computer game nearly 20 years ago in the US. GW was way more popular in the UK than it was in the US back then. It was just starting to take off.

The server is acting a bit strange (like "Jones" in Rogue Trader rules). Sorry for the consecutive posts. I'll revise this one to add something useful I hope.

Twenty years ago GW product was a lot more of a "fringe" hobby in the US than it is today, but among the people who were into the hobby I would say, yes, Space Hulk was reasonably popular. Word of mouth and nostalgia from hobby vets like me have helped boost the sales of the current version beyond anything they probably had 20 years ago in the US. GW is a lot more visible and at least heard of by non-hobbyists than it was more than 10 years ago. It's still somewhat a niche thing, but not nearly so much as it was 20 years ago. Early on GW had only one store in the whole US! Things have come a long way since then.

I really miss the "Jones is acting strangely" rule. Here's hoping it makes an appearance in the next Nid Codex.

Back on topic, given that the next two Codexes appear to be Nids followed by Blood Angels, I would expect there to be renewed interest for split box contents over the coming months.

I still have my tried and true version, and plenty of second hand termies and genestealers to choose from.

The new one was epic fail from the get go. SURE the new one is "Popular". But not for the reasons people think.

The only thing that GW has done has given the E bay Droogs more fodder to overcharge for the games for saps to pay for.

Popular in the sense that people will be flooding the E bay markets.

Our local in Springfield, IL (Capital City Games) still has 3 I think. I got a local guy who saw them and offered me his 1st edition set with the Deathwing Expansion for $50 bucks. Too hard to pass up so I bought it. Most excellent purchase; he even had the original terminaters with the aerial antennae on them. Amazing... I still want one of the new ones; but just can't bring myself to shell out the $100; no matter how cool looking the models are.

Many stores in Maryland still have Space Hulk sitting on shelves. Since we're lucky enough to be GW central for the US with lots of GW stores and we have some good independent stores as well, there's a Space Hulk surplus in this state.
