Why is there only 1 deff kopta? Is everythig your taking your ENTIRE army? just asking because some of that stuff isnt really making sense to take, at least not at the numbers your talking about

Yeah its all i have at the moment unfotunately.
When i get some cash i will get 2 more deffkoptas and some boyz and some burnas

Burnas are just awesomesauce poured into a plastic molding machine. Ork boyz, getting a ton of power weapon attacks. Yup not a whole lot can stand up to that

Regardless what models you want to buy or are told to buy, what you should do is have a game with a good friend.
...Have a few, in fact...
Create a bunch of different lists. Find something you like.
Proxy models for anything you don't have.
Then... once you know what army style and list you prefer... start buying models.
Don't run out and buy more Deff Koptas because you think they'll be good or because someone says they're good.
Don't drop the funds for 15 lootas, a BWagon and Big Mek because I told you how great they were.
See for yourself.
It'll save you a lot of money and a lot of headache that way.
I think that, at the points level you're talking about in this thread, 3 Deff Koptas (in one unit OR 3), a bunch of Burnas or a bunch of Lootas is... Well, it's probably not the best choice.

You should figure out what works for you before buying any more models, though.

I can't see why people are giving list and spesific tactical advice. It is obvious that the issue at hand is that they are playing wacko-hammer, seems there are no force orgs, no point limits (the orks are almost outnumbered by the marines - no wonder he looses), not a consistent ruleset, no rules for only using units from one codex etc. THAT is the issue at hand. Start by getting the rulebook, then play some small battles (500-750 f.ex.), learn the rules and have fun with armies that are the same size and legal.

Seems you guys are trying to get everything out of the hobby right away (like apok and planetstrike), but I just don't think you get much out of it when you are playing it like this.

I think that, if you read the thread again, you'll see that we clearly addressed that issue.

Now that he knows the deal with that, we need to focus on list building and tactics.

And what magickal said was correct.. i jumped into the deep end right away, i have learnt from this post on not to do that. Now i know that, people are giving me advice on army building and tactics!

MagickalMemories advice is good- proxying before you buy is the way to go. And playing a few small points games to get the hang of how your army works is good too.

Orks the good and the bad

Units that you can't really go wrong with.
Nobz ... these guys are probably one of the nastiest unit in 40k. For each warboss you take you may take one unit as troops.
Must have Upgrades 'eavy armour (or Bikes), Boss poll and a Pain boy.

Burna Boyz ... 5-15 flamer/power weapon nutters. Shove them in an open topped vehicle and drive up and place all of those templates down. Template hits 4 people well that's 60 hits (from 15).

Lootas ... Large Squad removes units and AV12 or less with easy.

Ork Boyz ... Cheap and very killy. Always take a Nob and he always takes a Power Claw.

Storm Boyz ...Insanely fast can often first turn charge. (movement 12+D6" + Assault 6" =19"-24" average 21.5"). Again Take a Nob and PowerClaw.

BattleWagon ... Front AV14 sits 20 and is able to take the deffrolla. A must for all orks.

Killa Kans yay BS3 weapons. Good all round unit DCCW so its strength 10. Grotriggers should only be take if you have one.


In-between
Big Guns ... Not every ones first choice with Battle wagons and Kans. Good points more BS3 weapons. bad points ... sneeze and they disappear.

Deff Dreads some lists have a use for them they're not bad but nothing special.

Gretchin ... They're cheap they're weak but i have seen them bog down units. If you take them grot prods are a good investment (i've seen many high Toughness MC loose wounds to these)

Tank Hunters ... Great on paper but hard to controll. Str10 CC weapons are nice.

Warbuggies ... great to harass the enemy but BS2

Warbikes ... slightly tougher get a 4+ armour and cover save but cost a bit and have low unit sizes. Must take a boss poll nob.

DeffKoptas see warbuggies + can drop bombs when using turbo boosters. Should not see close combat unless its to finish off a unit (note buzzsaws are only Str6 and Str7 on the charge)

MegaNobs no painboy so not as good IMHO as regular nobs. Work best if give a battlewagon and have Mad Dok Grotsnik attached

And now the units you shouldn't take.
Flash Gits. They're simply over priced for what they can do.

Looted Wagons. Only possible use for this is with a boom Gun. Other wise waste of space.

Kommandos ... Meh i've heard some good but I'm not a fan.

Kommandos with snikrot can be pretty good.

Snikrot is good Kommandos not so much. Apart from mentioning Mad dok I left out all characters.
