best kill ever was in apocalypse. we had 5 baneblades and a shadowsword and the enemy had 2 warhound titans and about 5 landraiders. my demonettes come in from the back with flank march on the first turn (we won priority) my herals DP threw a vortex grenade at one of the warhounds. "schhhwoooomp!!!" 2 structure pints gone. then my demon prince charged the blighter and ripped its head off. it went into meltdown with a megggggaaa explosion. everything in the radius of the blast died...
except my DP and 2 demonnetes. so they cannot use their titan at all. at least 600pts wasted. whats more is in their turn, b4 they could use the other one, the vortex grebade scattered onto the second titan. and guess what? "schhwoooomp!!!" gone.
the next funniest kill was a suicide. i was playing tau and being owned by the nids. my etheral had already been killed (very humiliatingly) like 500 times that month, so when i find the etheral backed up at the edge of a cliff, with a 2 foot drop below him with spiky rocks at the bottom (a huge fall and dangerous terrain) with 20 genestealers and a broodlord about 3" away, spanning the length of the cliff so i couldnt run away, i decided enough wwas enough and i would not allow another humiliating ownage death by my enemy. ( i had already been ripped apart, eaten, spawned, burned, sliced, baneblade cannoned to the face) so i promptly jumped from the cliff and died.
best by far was when my last plaguebearer took a shadowsword gun to the head, and survived.

My venerable dreadnought with a destroyed CCW managed to duel Abaddon and win. It took like 6 rounds of combat, but was totally awesome. I've never seen so many 1s come from Abaddon.
Another battle with Abaddon had him rampaging through my Dark Angels and my allies' Blood Angels and Guard back in late 4th eidtion. We lured him into a firing line, where he was surrounded on 3 sides by shooting. Over 1000 points of shooting later, one of my Dark Angel plasma gunners finishes Abaddon off. At the same time, Azrael duels a Chaos dreadnought and gets a glancing 6, killing it.
Oh 4th edition...

Best kill was probably when my fabled EC (at Canterbury GW) charged into Marneus is his termie armour and came out alive after my assault phase leaving a hollow shell behind. He was then charged by honour gaurd and took 2 of them with him but the TH champion smashed his skull in.

Ah, I just remembered.
A tzeench chaos lord with deamon weapon makes his way towards this small group of guardsmen. (the Platoon Commander and his surviving buddy)
He shoots at them, but wounds himself with the Deamon Weapon. I move, I shoot and wound him with my bolt pistol (and he's in termie armour). I then charge him. He has one wound left and strikes first. He rolls a one. Kills himself with a deamon weapon.
Of course, my platoon commander took full credit for it.

I remember back in 4th when it was far easier to destroy a vehicle on a glancing hit. I had a GK Crusader against my friend's Nercons. I rolled 3 6's in a row and destroyed his Monolith with a lucky glancing hit from a Hunter-Killer rocket!

My most satisfying is by far the first time I played a game with my Orks. In the middle of the field was a SM commander with relic blade just kicking the poop out of my boyz. My warboss finally got up there, I assaulted but went last with the PK. I saved all my cybork saves (I think it was 4? saves. maybe 3 cant remember) then my boss landed all his attacks, and the SM failed ALL of his saves. It was SO hilarious the look on my opponents face. The commander is just unstoppable and then completely man handled by my boss.
I still remember that moment, sometimes it even gets me a little cocky, but I think rightfully so Automatically Appended Next Post: Valkyrie wrote:I remember back in 4th when it was far easier to destroy a vehicle on a glancing hit. I had a dred, that was immobilized and the only working weapon was the bolter, shoot the back of another dred and completely blow it to bits after getting its ass handed to it by said dred. I think that was the most satisfying moment for my dred right then lol. Sometimes I miss things like that in 5th

My dread with a twinlinked lascannon shot at a baneblades front armor and got a pen shot, which then went on to:
Get 3 6's on the chain reaction table,
14" on the apocalyptic explosion,
which killed 4 squads of infantry and 4 chimeras,
3 leman russ tanks,
2 squads of ork boyz,
another structure point from a nearby baneblade, which exploded killing a few more infantry units,
and disabling a (teammates) stompa.
All from one Lascannon shot.

My most satisfing was in the last tournament at my FLGS. My marines vs nids. It was dawn of war deployment and I had first turn.
On my side, 2 drop podded melta dreads. On his side, his HQ (a hive tyrant I think) and 2 groups of stealers. My dreads could barely see him (21" visual, target 21" away). All shots got off, wounded with all of them. Tyrany goes down.
For a first turn, I'm calling that a pretty awesome round of shooting.

Necromunda - Long In Necromunda I played scavvies, my gang used plague zombies and had two huge mutant lizard guys called scalies (Phobos and Deimos). One was my favorite tricks was to have one of my zombies walk off a high catwalk and land on my opponents models. The fall inflicted a strength hit equal to the distance fallen in inches, so a fall from the third story inflicted a strength 9 hit. The model my guy lands on has a 4+ chance of getting crushed along with him. I found myself confronted by space marines and genestealers, I didn’t play 40K at this time, but knew enough about them to know that I should be intimidated about fighting them with my poorly armed and trained sewer people. I get picked up into a game with 3 guys I didn’t know. I was “partnered” with a standard gang and one of our opponents played 3 space marines and the other 3 genestealers. Necromunda allowed for 2nd edition 40K to be incorporated into the game, all you had to do is multiply the price of the 40K unit by ten to get the necromunda price. A lot of people would refuse to play against such things as space marines, genestealers, or spyrers because they were viewed as gang killers and the opponent didn’t take the same risk of losing beloved characters to the battle– results in a game carried through and your guys could get injured or killed, so the game was a little more serious than typical wargames. The three genestealers rushed towards me covering an insane distance and scavies where generally poor at shooting. My scaly Phobos who bravely position himself in a vanguard position threw a tox bomb at two of the genestealers – the guy then states that the genestealers are immune to the weapon (tox bombs hurt models with respirators in the necromunda, its more of an acid attack then a gas, but I didn’t challenge). They then take out Phobos and proceed towards my gang. My combined gunfire down one out of the duo and Ringworm (all my scavies where named after diseases) bravely stands on ground level plugging ineffectual shots at the advancing tyranid – he played the role of bait. My ace in the hole was a zombie standing on the top floor of a building above the genestealer who was right under the building edge. I surprise the three guys I was playing against by marching the ghoul off the building in an attempt to body slam the tyranid. The genestealer player defiantly didn’t see this coming and started arguing about my ability to do such a thing. I told him it was clearly in the rulebook and he took the hit on a 4+. He didn’t like this and stated that it was obliviously an initiative test. I told the group this wasn’t my first zombie drop and I was sure it was based on a 4+, the other player was just as sure it was based on initiative. I spent like 5 minutes flipping through my rulebook but I could not find the rule (this always happens to me in disputes). Well the two other guys rule with their friend and the genestealer player takes his initiative test and rolls a 6. The model is wounded and goes down, then my opponent starts saying that he actually passes because the genestealer had an initiative of 7. I was however, able to find the rule that a roll of a 6 always fails and the bug stays down. The guy looked like he was going to have a hissy fit, but was just able to contain himself. The genestealer was now downed. A downed model has a chance of recovering, but is automatically removed if an enemy model moves into contact with it. Ringworm runs up to it and takes it out of action leaving one genestealer for my army to contend with. My opponent looks like he is coming apart at the seams but is just able to hold himself together. Because I am a bit a dramatic person in these situations and I enjoy provoking people I act out the scene using a slurring, mutant, inbred ghoul voice, “Thiisss is for Phooo - bos, Bang, Bang, Bang” while making the gun gesture towards the floor. It took the rest of my gang dog piling the bug to pull down the last genestealer (about 12 models including zombies); I only lost a few zombies to it. The space marine player blasted the other player to bits (think turkey shoot) and then turns his guns towards me. My remaining scaly had a spear gun, which is my all time favorite weapon. It was basically a bolt thrower which inflicts a strength 6 hit and would carry a model D6 inches backwards with the possibility of taking more damage if the model hits a wall or better yet gets taken off an elevated position. The marine player argues that his huge marine would not be carried by the spear - I responded that my ogryn sized scalies don’t have spear immunity nor should his guys – my logical was impeccable and the group conceded the point. The huge, power-armored, super human takes the bolt to the chest and gets flung off his perch. So, I take out one of the marines by impaling him and dropping him from a three-story height and then hide the rest of my army behind cover. The marine player taunts me and tries to provoke me to charging across no-man land to his two man gun line, I decline, but invite him to come to me. The game is called and my army wanders away leaving the two space marines in their building. Well my sewer boys take out 3 genestealers and a space marine, which in the Necromunda setting was pretty major. Phobos lucked out and rolled impressive scars instead of getting crippled or killed.

Khorne lord with daemon weapon and wings deep strikes to take out a isolated veteran squad. Plasma guns all miss him. Lasguns all miss him/fail to wound. Sarge hits and wounds him with his shotgun and he fails his save. Next turn the Lord charges the squad. Wounds himself once. He is promptly mobbed to death by the veterans.

One of the very first games my buddies and I played when we got into the hobby gave me my most satisfying kill.
My SM playing buddy has a 5 man termie squad in the middle of the table. The turn before, a unit of my boys rolled up in a trukk and disembarked behind it. I was ~10" away after disembarking and with the trukk in the front I knew that the termies couldn't get around to assault me, and I could just move it on my next turn and assault the termies with the boys.
So, on my buddies turn the termies take shots at the trukk. It gets destroyed and the KAREEN! result is rolled. I roll the scatter and roll double 6's right in the direction of the termies! The trukk rolls off that way, explodes and hits all the termies with the explosion. Saves are rolled and, wouldn't you know it, two 1's come up.
So, it's my next turn. My 11 slugga boys and their nob move up 6 inches and open fire on the termies. I get an insane 7 hits. The termies roll their saves and roll 4 failures.
We were both utterly stunned.

I managed to wipe 8/10 Dire Avengers in a single shot from a Defiler's Battle Cannon. This was right near the start of the battle, and the Dire Avengers hadn't even had a shot yet
Apparently this angered the Exarch and his one remaining Dire Avenger, as they charged towards my Daemon Prince. A lucky Shuriken Catapult shot took a Wound off the Daemon (which had already been wounded a bit, leaving it with one wound remaining). They then charged the Prince.
- Daemon Prince hits with ONE attack, which then didn't even Wound.
- Dire Avengers shove a Shuriken Catapult in the Prince's face and wound it. And yes, I failed it's save.

Two of my favourite kills come to mind [not technically satisfying, but they're the closest I can come up with]. Oddly enough, both were against Tau.
The first was when I was playing my Dark Angels against them. He had an Ethereal standing in cover, with some suits and firewarriors nearby. I went first, and I proceeded to aim a Plasma cannon on the Ethereal's head. Surprisingly, it doesn't scatter, the Ethereal fails his cover save, and dies, causing several units to run off the board, and the others to rush forward into the waiting and powered arms of my Deathwing.
As well, many months later, I was playing with my Imperial Guard against Tau in the middle of a small tournament. I had outflanked my Valkyrie behind his corner. After delivering it's payload, it couldn't do very much - he had placed his objective in the center of the roof of a building, too far in for the Valk to contest. However, there was a Devilfish nearby that it could glance - then I remembered it has special shields on the front. So, I moved the Valkyrie behind the 'Fish, shot a multilaser into it's rear, suprisingly penetrated it's armor, and wrecked it. It may not have won me the game, but it was neat, killing a tank with an anti-infantry vehicle.

DA Consecrators- 2000 points' worth, currently shelved
Imperial Guard - about 2000 points' worth, soon to be expanded

Heh mine is from when i first started out. My tyranid friend rolled for reserves and smirked as he put his lictor in some cover behind one of my infantry squads. He assaulted and only killed a single guardsman; on my attacks all of the remaining guardsmen beat the lictor to death with rifle butts. Really good rolling on my part, and terrible rolling on his. I just love the image of a lictor leaping out from behind a tree, killing a single guardsmen, and then getting knee-capped by one guardsman, then beat to death by the rest.

With 3rd edition orks, killing a GK Land Raider on turn 1 with a forward deployed Zzap battery is well up there. Suddenly my opponent's confident grin became a worried frown.

My fav kill was when my 100pt Autarch charged a cmd squad of Deathwing Termies and killed the Cpt and 2 other termies before the DA exarch came in and kill the last 2 termies.
The greatest thing was, I had not cast doom on that unit. Sometimes the Dice love you. Most of the time they don't.

Apoc game. Calgar joins a squad of IG with a comissar. He voluntarily breaks, and BLAMMO! No more Calgar. A chapter master cut down by a man in a peak cap with an itchy trigger finger. The 2 guys who were playing couldn't stop laughing.

Hmmm...
Way back in 2nd edition, during an "Apocalyptic" battle, I had a Farseer who took out 7 genestealers in HTH before finally going down...
But my favorite has to be from 3rd edition, when my Nurgle Terminator Lord (also named Vilegrimm, coincidentally) was down to his last wound, and got charged by my opponent's remaining Carnifex. In the ensuing combat, I carved him down to 2 wounds before getting ready to suffer the inevitable death. the Carnifex caused 3 wounds on Vilegrimm, so I said to my partner (we were playing a mega-battle with 2 generals per side), "No problem; I just need 3 5+ saves and I'll kill him next round!" So I pick up the dice, and roll a 5, 6, 6. My opponents looked on stunned, and I chuckled a bit before proceeding to chop the Carnifex apart the next round...
THAT was satisfying.

Both of these were back in 3rd edition.
I had a pack of bloodclaws charging into a unit of Kroot. The round before they were within range, they were decimated. My 3 bloodclaw survivors charged valiantly into the hoard and managed to kill a half dozen kroot before 2 were pulled down by the rest of the unit. I won the combat, they broke and ran, I swept and wipped the unit out (15 or so kroot gone). Unfortunately I ended my sweeping advance 3 inches from his second unit of kroot and went down in a blaze of glory, but what a way to go. Incidentally, the same game had my wolf lord hit by 3 broadside battle suits from across the table... 3 rail gun shots... nothing was left of him.
The second great kill found me playing my tau force against tyranids. My shas'o was moving around the flank and found a perfect position on a piece of terrain to launch my missile from. Unfortunately my perfect position had a lictor hiding in it. It took three rounds to kill the thing. Whenever I get around to painting him, he'll now have a silhouette of a lictor on the side of his suit.
