I paint at my FLGS normally, and the crowd there varies. All the people painting invariably flock together though.

Usually just me and my girlfriend. She's been painting all of 3 months and she is way better than I am (with my decade+ of experience). But at least I can say I got her into it!

I've gone very little painting and no playing, so far. I did a little modeling at my FLGS, with one or two others... I couldn't tell if one of them was working or oogling the other guys work.

I paint at college or at friend's houses with at least four or five other people. Its become kind of a regular event for us.

Me and some friends ussualy get together every couple weeks and either do some painting and terrain work or have a game, so I do most of my painting then.

Usually by myself, but my buddy has a painting station at his house where our little club meets, so if I'm not playing I sometimes paint.

By myself while at home or in the local FLGS with my 3 Warhammer buddys

I used to paint with a friend of mine at least once a week (probably 3 years ago). It was a very productive time, but now that I've gone back to paint by myself (most of the time) it would be hard to make it a regular thing. I should probably pick somebody and start trying it again.

I paint alone,I prefer it that way,on occasion one of my children may sit at my desk with me and watch (and ask a million and one questions,"Daddy,why are orkz green?","Daddy,why are orkz mean?","Daddy,why is that man holding a bloody head?") or my girlfriend may comment on a certian mini,but for the most part painting time is MY time.

Me and up to five guys go to my friends house and paint every weekend. And we all rotate from fantasy to 40k after a couple of figures and none of us have a complete army yet....except the one that bought his painted -_-

I prefer to paint at home myself. I'm much more comfortable here, and can concentrate better. The store just has to many people running around.

Plus, I can sit in my underwear here

Finding people who play 40k in El Paso is pretty difficult, so I haven't played a game since 3rd edition. I still paint and model and create army list for the enjoyment though. Every FLGS that opens up here seems to close up in a few months, so I paint at home by myself.

Depends for me, I do alot of painting on my own but I have a paint night with the crew in my studio every thursday/saturday night, then even more when tournaments are coming up.

If I ever paint with other people, it's only me and my friend. Otherwise, myself.

i can't paint my models in a group, i'm too much of a good painter compared to them plus our techniques vary so an army painted 5 different ways won't work

I've painted at the FLGS a couple of times. I can't say that it's been very social, but it's been kind of fun. I also painted last Saturday at my local Starbucks. Again, not social, but I'm perfectly comfortable painting alone in public.

It is easier for me to paint in public if I want to do any work on my models before 11 at night. My son goes to bed rather late, and the natural toddler curiosity over minis is hard for me to overcome even when I give him his own things to work on.

My husband and I sometimes paint together at home late at night. I really wish that I had more people to paint with because painting is my favorite part of everything so far.

I've only painted by myself so far, though that may change sometime in the future.

I normally paint by myself but as the question was 'when painting socially' i voted three, which seems to be the normal number.

No I paint with lotsa people, at the local college I teach a painting/model class. Its free just show up 1st saterday of the month, we get about 15-20 people every class. I have even learned a few things too, shading and inking. Building and painting card buildings is a fun thing I also teach them, as they all keep a building they have built.

I paint and model on my own. Though I like having my wife around and she reads or knits or draws. Occasionally she paints but I wouldn't choose go painting communally like in a shop or something. What an odd idea.

I'm never offered to paint with others for the same project, but I do join in their conversation as it tends to be derailed to certain inedible objects being smothered with tomato paste

It seems me and wife mostly paint alone, although occasionally we have been painting at the same time. So much so the second paint station discussion has been raised.

Usually when I paint socially it's at the local gaming store there tends to be between 2 and 5 people there painting (including myself.)

I would love more than anything to have a group that painted together. I'm still trying to find people.

Being someone who's very introverted (at least by Myers-Briggs standards), that's my one time during the week where I can relax and be alone. And by the end of the week, I need that.

It varies, but for the past few years it was usually 3 or more when painting with friends at the Battle Bunker in Maryland on Monday nights or on weekends. Now that I'm reduced to only smaller GW stores for social painting it sometimes is less.

Same as a few others. Depends from how many of the 8ish people in the group I paint with make it in. Only 3 of us tonight, everyone else was watching the Giants embarrass the rangers. MLB, not WFB.
