Speaking of Plasma, putting a Land Raider in the middle of three Plasma Cannon wielding Dreadnoughts take the fratricide out of the occasional friendly fire.

But back on the silly note, has anyone else noticed that the photo of the Iron Warriors' Dreadnought being escorted by Terminators is the worst possible (or perhaps the most ballsy) way to escort a Dreadnought?

Taking 3 Dreads with Plasma Cannon AND hvy flamer, with 30 CSM in front of them in bunched up position.
You also have Fabius in the list and enhance those 30 CSM most likely in 6 squads of 5...

THAT is ballsy!

I love the way you think I love using Fabious... Str 5 zerkers and str 5 death guards always fun!

OHHHH in this list use his boost on the 1k sons and assault people! the looks you get from Str 5 guys... hahaha

@Zid:
Sadly, Fabius doesn't enhance Cults, only CSM.

@ZacktheChaosChild:
You only have a pair? What Nurgle player are you? I've got 3 pairs and one extra... 7 bags ready to fight for the Slurgle (slaanesh + nurgle) way with STDs

@Nurglitch:
Noooo, you are mistaken, the dread is actually trying to killt the termies...it's just that he's missing them by a wide margin.

If there is a LR there... I rather go with 3 MM Dreads instead...

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

You can't enhance non-Chaos Space Marines, although the term "Chaos Space Marines" is used in the army variously to refer to the army as a whole, a group of units in the army (Chaos Space Marines, Chosen, Bikers, and Havocs), and a unit (Chaos Space Marines).

Something to note is that since Thousand Suns are Slow and Purposeful they can shoot their bolters twice before assaulting, so they actually are pretty effective assault units, particularly if you can get them into combat with Dreadnoughts, Terminators, and the like.

Something I have yet to see if the All Singing All Dancing Slaaneshi Marching Band:

Two Chaos Sorcerers of Slaanesh both with the Lash of Submission and Gift of Chaos, each with accompanying units of Possessed with Icons of Slaanesh, and then oodles of Noise Marines maxed out with weapons and Power Fists.

Thats how I always interpreted it, oh well... guess I've been playing fabius wrong when I take him out once in a blue moon. Guess I'll have to make my 4 power weapon chosen squad w/ MOK and use fabius on em... str 5 power swords is pretty rad!

I follow the interpretation that "Chaos Space Marines" refers to all the units under "Chaos Space Marines" in the unit description (name escapes me) part of the book rather than to the whole book or the specific unit.

And yes, S5 Fearless Chosen are pretty evil, but you may also discover why Fabulous Bile is going bald...

Fun thread. Makes me want to bust out my Raptors and PC dread! And assemble some spawn!

FWIW: If I use Fabius he's only going the enhance the single unit called "Chaos Space Marines".

Yeah, yay for GW's vague wording! Seriously, they really need to spell some stuff out in black and white.... this open to interpretation stuff is really lame -_-

Usually I disagree with the opinion that GW's rule are vaguely written, but using the same term to refer to three different things is a clear case of amphiboly. Although I think it's clearly the group of units rather than just the unit, the usage really needs more clarification.

Mind you, I'm inclined to call the army "Chaos Marines" rather than "Chaos Space Marines" in order to contrast them against "Space Marines"; space being orderly and the realm of chaos being disorderly and chaotic by definition.

Guardsmen is guardsmen. When you hold that 100th Leman russ turret above your head though...

Space don't seem so orderly in this game

Well GW does do it, and often, in codices. Better editors IMO

Zid:

Well, that's kind of my point: many people are of the opinion that GW is in the habit of not writing their rules clearly enough, and that is an opinion with which I disagree. It's just that in this case, despite the answer being clear enough, it should be clarified (especially because there is a mass of people out there to whom English is a mystery and to whom GW rule books are strange and mysterious objects daubed with arcane symbols occasionally referred to in the ancient rites of the 40k game as passed down from the beginning of time).

I would only use them with the Troop CSMs only.
But if I played against someone who enhanced other unit entries... I'd like to be told about it before hand.

The rules are hazy enough that the interpretations vary in completely different directions.

But str 5 or 6, Toughness 6, Fearless Bikers...with a str 9-10 power fist...FUN AND BALLZY!.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.

I do like the idea of an all Bile list composed entirely of Chosen, Troops, Bikers, and Havocs, all Enhanced. Add in a Dreadnought or two and you're good.
