Benefit for Hordes & Warmachine right now that the rulebooks and stats for all models are available for free on their website. You'll need to sign up for the field test to get the Hordes stuff, but it's a free entry right now while we wait for the next editions release in January.

Blood Bowl

We should be supporting Blood Bowl by buying as much as possible as soon as possible!

Otherwise, Malifaux is a $35 rulebook with a 5-model $35 starter box. Not bad, actually.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Sure its easy to "just fit in" if the local gaming crowd only play 40k, but can I encourage people to grow a backbone and have courage to break out of the mundane GW-only straightjacket! Finding at least one person to try out a new game with really isn't that hard if you give it a serious try, unless you are a total newcomer to the hobby!

Ouch Harsh......

Yes there alot of alternatives. My suggestion would be to find something that interests you ERA wise. I'm not a big Napoleonic Guy , but love the WWII minis so FoW is a good match.

Also, for myself, I have to like the minis, if painting is involved I won't paint them if I don't like them.

Always wanted to get into Micro Armor, but not alot of people playing it that I can find, then again have to look harder...lol

Malifaux is not bad at all, I dropped about 80 quid on all the guild models and my share of the rulebook. The only other thing you need is a deck of cards, gotta be the best move I've made. Still painting my warhammer stuff, but not playing much as this game is just so much more fun.

I remember once upon a time this is how warmachine got its start.

Warmachine had quickstart rules in the starter boxes, so you didn't need to drop extra $$$ on rulebook.

Malifex doesn't have a quick start rules set in the box?

There is a model of the teddy bear? I couldn't find it on the Wyrd / Malifaux site.

I'd try something new but my money is going to new Tyranid stuff.

Maybe in the spring I'll try WM when the new MK2 rules are final...maybe.

--The whole concept of government granted and government regulated 'permits' and the accompanying government mandate for government approved firearms 'training' prior to being blessed by government with the privilege to carry arms in a government approved and regulated manner, flies directly in the face of the fundamental right to keep and bear arms.
