Nice!
Sounds like this is off to a great start mate
Also, you ever seen the new hydra model for DE?
Was thinking about using that, but its metal, and the last thing i want is metal model hell

Got two old ones and one new one.
Old body is better, as it's lower to the ground. And sadly, I see no avoiding metal hell when it comes to an Abomination. But either one, with Rat Ogre heads insteas of Hydra ones ought to work quite nicely.
Oh, new body is also a little bit too dynamic for such a shambling monstrosity, but I reckon this is a personal taste thing.
Now, to figure out what to do with the dead Rat body...

Heh, i was thinking just that mate
Saw an old master moulder list in an old WD mag.
they had aboms in there, and they had used a hydra with Rogre heads on it lol.
I take it everything will need pinning then? lol.
Either that, the carny, or im tempted to use the metal wyvern model, but with that i still need arms for it.
Scenery?
How large is it mate? may be a good base model for the bone crusher thingy

Base is going to be a Chariot sized one (figure it's fairest way when size is unestablished, to go with the largest common one).
Oh, actually, the other bits are what you were meaning! Sits on a large round base (IG Weapon Team one), so possibly a little big for a Bonecrusher. Plus I'd need to go through the arseache of finding a head for it, and I simply cannot be arsed.
Might feature on my second Abomination though.

heh, thats what im thinking, atleast you can go to toen then and not have to worry about it not fitting on a base.
So its a fair size.
The bone crusher is a large rat ogre mate
Heh, going for a monster mash then?

I love big monsters me.
2nd one is likely to be based off a de-winged LotR Dragon. Again with the Rat Head from the Caller kit.

Not thought about a dragon as a base.
Guess the nwe HE dragon could work too
However, you would need it to be crawling over the ground unless you want some serious work to do lol.
I may even do that though, seems like its the only idea i did miss.
Thanks
Also, ill 2nd the big monsters
i wont use a WHFB army unless i can take atleast 2. (my TK's had 5 bone giants lol)

Give it time mate, it may do lol.
Just found the caller model on the GW site.
Looks like it would do fine as an abom on its own.
Its bloody huge!
May just get one and do some sculpting work on it and add some details (packmaster rider lol, that kind of skaven funny gak)

The ribcage should be able to hold sculpted guts quite nicely, but I wanted to go for a gribblier look!

I take it the rat isnt multi-part?
So to add the guts it would be a simple job of chopping open the rib cage, then adding them and putting the ribs back
However, i may cut the legs and other parts and add spacers to make it bigger lol.

Ribcage is in two halves, tail is seperate, head and neck are one piece, plus the four legs. Hind legs are pretty large.

Quality mate
Means even less cutting, allthough, i wanna test out the jewelers saw i paid £50 for lol.
Looking at the HE dragon (new one) me thinks it wont be easy to use.
Simply because its legs are too close together.
Not only that, but they are too short to make it stand up to any extent.
It will be crawling on its stomach without a serious amount of work (by that i mean re-sculpting all the limbs)
The neck is also a bit too long, so that would need chopping and filling.

It also dips towards the front. A great basis, but only for sinuous fliers in my opinion.
If you're feeling up to it, perhaps you could work from one of the Forgeworld Spawn creatures? They are certainly gribbly enough.
Though with the Dragon, you could always mount the hind quarters on a converted corpse cart, and attach Rat Ogre arms somewhere to pull it along?

I think it may be a more long term idea lol, dont really feel up to that much sculpting just yet (last thing i did was more work on my skaven engineer lol)
I was looking at the spined one funnily enough, its a nice size, but the price tends to put me off since there are much better things for that tag.
The arms issue comes big time, since the dragon is huge, the rat arms would be pretty tiny on it, which is why i need to hunt down a pair of the old plastic dragon arms (much bigger, nice pose)
Also, im not too keen on the idea of a cart on the back of it, wanted to keep away from that idea (ignoring fluff)
Otherwise it will just look like a giant paraplegic rotting slow. Automatically Appended Next Post: Edit:
One idea i did have was to use the previous dragon model and chop the body and lower it, same with the tail and neck.
Add a rat-like head to it and some details and done
Should be pretty big, allthough i doubt it would fill a chariot base since it was designed for a 50x50 base.

I don't think the fluff is all that important in this case. After all, the most notorious invention was based on a Blind Wyrm, but thats not to say other, less successful attempts didn't prove semi-fruitful.
Quite happy with my one, as I'll be playing Pestilens heavy, so the presence of a skanked up Carnosaur makes a certain amount of sense.
Will be digging out bells and censers and that to attach soon!

True enough mate, may just be a rat ogre thats chomped too much warpstone.
Failing that, feth the fluff
Its a giant skaven monster, what more do people want? lol
Pestilence units aint bad, the monks are good as they are, a furnace with them gives em some serious hitting power.
The censers kick arse by all accounts.
I have nothing for skaven yet except the engineer ive been making from random leftover parts lol, so once i start mine its all from what i have at hand.

I've written a pretty Beardy list for my Pestilens, requiring Skrolk, 3 Furnaces (with a lvl 2 Priest on each) 90 Plague Monks, and a single abomination.
Furnaces are sickeningly hard in the game!

Need to keep skrolk safe though mate, he isnt really bulletproof lol.
I was tempted to go with queek and go storm heavy with hard hitting units (close combat skaven!? WTF lol)
but i think that would cost too much points wise (queek, snikch and 2 units of storms break budget for points)
However, after being nosy at some models on GW's store i now know what im doing for my abom lol.
O&G wyvern (old style, not the azhag overpriced gak one)
Grab the rat ogres box aswell for the arms, rider and parts (yes, my abom will get a rider lol)
Simply glue on the arms, re-sculpt the head and add alot of fur over the scales.
Add details and sculpt a rat tail instead of its current one.
The wyvern looks like the perfect model for it

I've got bits of a Wyvern sitting around here from when I converted one up from the High Elf Dragon.
If you take the head and neck off the front body section (everything from the wing sockets forwards essentially) you are left with a very muscular chest area, which I daresay I will put to use should I go bonkers and begin a third Abomination. Married up to a Shaggoth body, it's a good start for a more Centaurian based one.

The shaggoth was an idea someone gave to me, but i just couldnt see it working that well due to the human like build + the reptillian aspect of it
The wyvern model does kick arse, allways liked it (shame wyverns are gak though)
Guess i have a use for it now
However, ill need to dig out a chariot base from someone, since the 50x50 wont cut it
Anyways mate, good luck with it and get some piccies up soon
