Yeah, just stayed away from those threads myself as I'm usually the "GW isn't so bad, guys!" guy. ::flinches, looks around:: Whew! Anyway, maybe the release of products like the ones in this thread will mollify some of those peeps as they need less and less from GW itself.

Packs to 1x1' by 2.5" deep? That means the tiles are only ~2.6 mm or ~0.1 inch thick. Might as well just get a fancy battlemat, considering the price.

yeah,
Packs away into a drawer, sounds like a great idea to start with... But 1'x1' Vinyl Tiles! that sounds lame... they will move all over the place during a game, and flocked bendy tiles will soon be bald bendy tiles!
lord_blackfang wrote:Yeah, enjoy your flocked and drybrushed flooring tiles for £125. And at only 1x1 foot, you'll still need a full 6x4 board to support them, so what's the point?
Bingo!
Osbad wrote:If someone produced 12" (or 24") square modular tiles that locked together in someway even with no texture or painting on them, I'd be all over them like white on rice. 24" x 24" textured hard plastic tiles that click together... perfect for warhammer gamers

On-Topic:
If I wanted drybrushed, flocked floor tile to make a portable table...well. I'd probably just do it myself. Unless they're really, really, really, REALLY well done.

Honestly I would rather pay the full retail of 50% more to get a realm of battle board than flocked/drybrushed vinyl, and that is saying something about how bad this sounds.

Perhaps I should have modified that to add..."if they do not cost an arm and a leg." I'm up for "cheap if unprepared", "moderately priced for high quality prepared". I am not up for "extortionate and I have to do all the work". I'm the kind to guy that is quite prepared to pay someone to do some work, but if I have to do a lot of the work myself I damn well want it cheap. This whole attitude that GW are prepared to charge me for the "opportunity to assemble and paint something that they have made" is bollocks. I'll pay the going rate for a model that someone has assembled and painted for me. I have a reasonable collection of prepainted WW2 1:72 tanks for instance - you can get them at around £10 - £14 each, saves me the hassle of assembling and painting the models. I also have a reasonable set of plastic kits I have made up in the same scale. They cost roughly £5-£7 Both seem reasonable prices for what I get. If someone came along and said "here's a 1:72 WWII plastic tank kit for £12 though I'd politely ignore them. Sure painting and assembling can be fun, but it is still a task that if someone else were to do it for me would cost me money. I am NOT prepared to pay for the chance of doing it myself. That is preposterous. Yet GW (and PP, to be fair, looking at their recent prices) seem to have built their pricing strategy on the concept.

Bahhahahahaha.
You think you have it bad? I'm the closest thing to a GW enthusiast in my gaming group (I've even occasionally taken to buying items retail to support the store! *gasp/horror here*) - and so the crap I get for enjoying current rules and releases is rather interesting - especially as it includes people like HBMC.

They described the change in the CSM codex reflecting a switch from fluffy to crunchy rules. Given that HBMC is a committed gooomba of the Casual Gamer Mafia, I can see why that kind of change would trouble him.

Yes, Lords2001 is part of our group. And it's not that I don't find GW releases interesting - believe you me, I want those new 'Nids - it's just their rules and business practices that leave much to be desired.
But at the end of the day, he's a min-maxing power gamer, and wants to play in tournaments. And we all know what Tournament Gamers are like: Scum. Of. The. Earth. Chances are they're responsible for global warming (assuming there is such a thing).

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

Lol. Its true, I'm a destroyer of lists, armies and men. But honestly, I usually enjoy the anticipation of new releases, and good ideas, and awesome models - for example, I have more than 55 Space Wolf Terminators sitting on my shelf .
I enjoy all of those things more than powerful rules - I mean, heck, I never use them anyway.
