I think terrible is an exaggeration. ODST lacks replay value, and I'm not a fan of RTS games anyway - but neither of could be called "terrible" by any objective measure.

His game is still in the works, I believe. Halo: Chronicles.

But I might be wrong. He's had a kind of love/hate relationship with the property, but is doing what he can to help out as much as able.

Im sorry, but with MW2, it simply kicks the gak out of any other game made to date on a console.
I rather keep my money and carry on playing what is now the best game in the world

Once i hit 10th i may consider buying a new game, but till then, ill carry on at MW2
I think its set the bar for standards way too high, there wont be a game for a long time that actually compares to it (not including MW1)

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

Well the VGA disaggree with you. Uncharted 2 won game of the year.
Oh BTW Best game of the world is more of your opinion. It is great but not worthy of that title. Only Half-life 2 is.

I'm vaguely interested. It doesn't feature the same annoying theme tune for a change.

It's the fact that, when saying that the game goes from being the most played thing on your Friends list to virtually unplayed...there's plenty of other factors in there. Especially with the Game of the Week crowd, the kind of folk who buy a game--beat it--then sell it back all within a week.

That's just my personal take on it though. I'm waiting till I get a memory unit to move my saved games from my old 360 from the original launch to start playing ODST again. I'm not really interested in replaying the campaign through on Legendary all over

Ah, ok, got it. Yeah, I'm in that crowd then. I don't usually possess more than 5 console games at any given time.

I have a stack of games, from my original Xbox(Black, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Republic Commando and MechAssaults 1+2) and then a buttload of 360 games(Conan, Gears 1+2, etc) that I constantly replay.

Anything that I deign too boring gets sold after the campaign mode is finished, or I hand it off to my younger brothers if it's appropriate ratings-wise.

Just watchedthe trailer; what is this filth?!? Did they just take all the old fluff, put it through a meat grinder, and light it on fire?

It's the same fluff. There were supposedly 17 surviving Spartans on Reach when it was attacked, and not all of them were named, nor were any of them in this trailer.

It's never been mentioned that Spartans only wear green armour. I like how they're including different MJOLNIR variants too.

The problem isn't that its never been mentioned, but that its stupid. Each Spartan is supposed to know every other Spartan, there aren't many of them. The notion that they need loud "shoot me" color schemes is kinda weird.

Actually, there were supposed to be quite a few Spartans.
We had the Spartan I and II projects, which netted around a few platoons worth of Spartans.

Then we have the Spartan III project, which created an even larger pool of potential Spartans, etc.

Add to that, once the Spartan Project went public--there was no need to conceal who the Spartans were, and they'd be a far more useful piece having distinctive schemes, etc as morale boosters to the UNSC and elements of terror to the Covenant.

But that's just my take on it.

It also makes them more likely to be shot.

I mean, I understand the decision from a storytelling perspective, but it still irritates the militarist in me.

No radio? No HUD indicators?

Though I suppose that could be a way to hand-wave the whole thing.

Wait, what do you mean no radio/no HUD indicators?

All UNSC personnel have IFF transponders as subdermal implants, from what the books have stated.

From the lowliest PFC/Petty Officer to the Admirals, and even the Spartans.

Just the Spartans show up as nothing but a number (S-117 for example, was Master Chief)--unless they so choose to allow friendlies to verify them.

That's the problem. Why don't they use that to indicate status? Why are they painted weird colors?

I'd accept the idea that the colors are HUD indicators, but that hasn't been floated in canon.

Ehh. See, I've always looked at them like I would PMCs, vehicle crews, or members of Special Operations now.

A level of leeway is given to their eccentricities, provided it's not something completely over the top ridiculous.

And it might even just be that the Spartans are doing it so that they feel more "human" to the standard UNSC troopers. The first real introductions of the Spartans had the UNSC forces just as terrified of the Spartans as the Covenant were, from what I recall. But catchy slogans, death's heads, etc make them seem less like soulless robots and more like hardened SpecOps personnel to the UNSC grunts, maybe?

The only problem was that the SPARTAN-III project wasn't public because of the lack of morality around it. Remember that the Spartan-IIIs are actually designed as 'expendable heroes', an elite fighting force designed to complete their objective and die in the process. As such, they're not much of a step up from normal humans. None of them were present in warzones (including Reach) because word would have gotten out.

Spartan IIIs came quite a bit after Reach, so yeah. They weren't present there.

The S-IIIs were used in missions that ODSTs and regular Spartans/NAVSPECWEP personnel couldn't be sacrificed for.

The spartan III program started in 2531. The press release for Reach says "jump into the boots of a spartan III", and the anonymous lieutenant is commented on as having "survived Pegasi", most likely referencing the battle in which the second company of S-IIIs was supposedly reduced to only two survivors. Though it can't be either of those two as they're off gallivanting around a shield world.

Either way, it's been said a couple of times lately that there's still a lot of stuff in the Halo universe that hasn't been seen yet, some of which was laid down many years before now. It would be a little odd to get all the answers to everything from just two minutes of opening cinematic.

EDIT: Said press release has since been altered to read "Spartan II" instead. Ho hum. I still think S-III inclusion is possible.
