That's what I always say, and it seems like a simple answer but they don't want you to think that they distrust you. In tourneys, you're liable to get a trashed sportsmanship score for making your opponent prove that he has all the abilities that he says he has. It's less effort to just trust your opponent.
I've faced off against a
TFG who musta looked into the future and saw this thread. At a tournament he made me show him my codex and
FAQ printout a dozen times. I'd never played this guy before, yet he assumed I was cheating with EVERY special rule... (Wych 4+
inv in
hth, Wych weapons neutering his
hth units, Wych drugs, The Agonizer rules, Night Shield rules, Dark Lance rules, my transports getting to move 24", transports only being subject to glancing hits at that speed, The list goes on) He would spend forever reading it too, so he could come up with some ridiculous interpretations that would render the rules completely useless. That game took forever, was really irritating, and I won anyway, which he also had a tantrum about because he was a
BT player and thought that nobody should be better in
hth than his
SMs. He managed to complain about everything I did. My guess is he thought he'd have an easy win vs.
DE. When he didn't, it probably made him feel like less of a man.
Kinda naive of him to think this was my first rodeo against
SMs...
Games like that just leave a bad taste in your mouth.
ON TOPIC!
Necrons and
DE. I've caught both doing some shady stuff. Odd that the
DE players tried pulling that on me. Did they think I wouldn't wonder why MY
DE can't do that? Knuckleheads...
