You know, when you read their Legal page, it really does all seem pretty reasonable.

That said...

I have a tattoo of Wolverine and Marilyn Manson's electroshock symbol. I've officially learned my lesson about getting tattoos of transient hobbies and interests.

For those of you who are worried about the WP referances; you'd be hard pressed to find a classical symbol that is NOT corrupted by one or more of these groups. In addition to those mentioned above some are:

- Maltese Cross (Which I wear around my neck but have no affiliation with any such group or ideology).
- Skulls with wings
- Celtic Cross.
- Pictures of boot heels, often stomping something.
- The number 12.
- Blood Drops.
- Fists and Daggers.
- Any animal considered a preditor.
- Armored figures like Knights.

This list goes on, I am by no means an expert in this field. I say who cares, if they can't figure out that they lost that war then there really is no hope for them. They should not be a factor in choosing your style.

Forever alone

I've never been interested in getting a tattoo, but I found this beauty on 4chan:

From the Warriors of Chaos book.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

All the people getting WH40K or Warhammer tattoos, just be sure to give GW a call and ask for payment for using your body as an advertising board for their products.....

Seriously, some people here will one day grow out of this hobby, and when that happens, do you really want a product graphic permanently printed on your body? Why not just buy a T-Shirt or a baseball cap, you can parade it around to your hearts content, and when the novelty ( eventually ) wears off, you can simply take the item of clothing off.....life can be so simple.

I have thought about getting a tattoo for many years. It's not about a fad or my current interests. I look at the idealism and the symbol in itself, and the beauty of the art. I also don't view the value of the game as something I will grow out of. I am over 30 and pretty much set into my ways. I ahve been a sci-fi fantasy fan all of my life and that is not going to change. This tattoo simply symbolizes and maybe epitomizes the essence of the genre I love. I am happy to live with it. I would ask people to consider whole-heartedly the choice of a tattoo and where they get it. As it is a permanent choice.

I'm with the other guy. I didn't get either of the tattoos that I have because I want to advertise things. I liked the imagery and the images happened to match artwork that I saw (for the first one) and (for the avatar pic) I liked the imagery in general and asked the guy to draw me something similar. Haven't regretted it because I didn't get it because of the game. I got it because I liked the feel of the art.

I have "MORE DAKKADAKKA" on mine too.....oh wait your is shor.....never mind.

I am kidding

It takes a lot to get a tattoo of something that may be a phase on you. Not just Warhammer I mean in lots of parts of life. On my right arm I have Mizu Gami a Japanese water goddess. She is the symbol used for Isshin Ryu an Okinawan martial art, I was a practitioner for 12 years. I have not been practicing for 3 years now and when peope ask I either give them the back story or say its a mermaid!

If I would have gotten the mana symbols from MTG on me I would really regret is since I despise what the game has become. As for a mini game....no tatts spring into my mind I would get

Ikasarete Iru

Graffiti from Pompeii: VIII.2 (in the basilica); 1882: The one who buggers a fire burns his penis

Xenophanes: "If horses had Gods, they would look like horses!"

Here's a bit of 'food for thought' on the IP infringement subject (I have been tattooing for 23 years and had it legally checked out years ago). As long as the customer brings the image into the tattoo establishment there is NOTHING that can be done about IP infringement legally. If the tattoo establishment 'offers' the images (keeps books/pictures/etc. on hand for potential customers to choose from), then that is pretty much thier butts on a platter in court. Walt Disney is absolutely ridiculous about thier copyrighted/trademarked/IP stuff and they actually have an entire division that travels around checking malls, flea markets, and yes, tattoo studios to insure that NO ONE ELSE is profiting by infringing on thier stuff. So, if you would like to get a GW inspired tattoo, be sure and take your own image to your favorite artist, so that the Big Bad GW Boyz don't haul them into court!

I love henna tattoos. The trick is getting someone else who is a decent artist to do the scribing for you, otherwise you end up with your ankle hooked up near your shoulders attempting to copy a design over upside down.

Little known secret: Find some carbon paper. Trace the image you want to copy through the carbon paper onto a normal sheet of paper, then use plain deodorant to transfer the image onto your skin. From there, it's easy sauce.

Which reminds me, it's time for me to cook up a new batch and put 'Fark 'em if they can't take a joke' on my leg in Latin...

You know guys... TECHNICALLY I could become friends with a tatoo artist and TECHNICALLY he could make me an Imperial Aquila tatoo on my back as a gift and TECHNICALLY I coud give him some cash just because. In that case, TECHNICALLY he hasn't sold anything.

Another thread here recently: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/373377.page

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd
