Because, like Inquisitor Fabulous pointed out, it's just too much confusion. If you bring Blood Angels, you play Blood Angels.
No, it isn't confusing at all.

Tactical Marines- in every codex
Assault Marines- in every codex
Devastators- in every codex
Bikers- in every codex
Rhinos- in every codex
Razorbacks- in every codex
Land Raiders- in every codex
Land Raider Crusaders- in every codex
Vindicators- in every codex
Whirlwinds- in every codex
Predators- in every codex
Librarians (for the four that have them)- in every codex
Chaplains (maybe Wolf Priest, not quite sure)- in every codex
Captains- in every codex
Dreadnoughts- in every codex
Scouts- in every codex
Land Speeders- in every codex
Drop Pods- in every codex

I can't really think of any major units outside the Storm, Ironclad, Prometheus, and characters from C:SM that do not have a direct equivalent in the other SM codeci. Hell, a huge majority of those also have equivalents in C: CSM.

With Gwar on this one. To me WYSIWYG includes the colour and markings and the models.
The thing is that some of those units have different rules depending on the codex. Might not be big differences but at the critical moment the Dark Angels counts as Blood Angels painted as Space Wolves army can get confusing.

The pink in the name refers back to 2rd edition and previous, where when killed a pink horror would split into two blue horrors (this was nerfed in 3rd). If you look at the minis there is often a horror inside a horror and horrors splitting in two etc etc that is references back to the old rules. Oh and back then flamers were a separate unit (I think they are upgrades to a horrors unit now?)

But I still don't see a reason why you should have to paint them pink/blue, Paint them chrome for all I care! (actually, that would look quite cool, chrome/multi-coloured/pearlescent zeentch daemons...)

That's nice. Has nothing to do with the RaW, but nice.

As far as the pink horror/blue horror thing goes i think its fine to paint it either way or split it into a new color or something of the such. i play csm and my guys are a whole new paint scheme. Also as stated before the horrors are for tzeentch (best chaos god out there) and tzeentch is the god of change so a change in the color of his units or even their shape can be accounted for quite easily.

and as for the space marines debate, i say that for a special army BT SW etc you should prolly use their specific rule book so as just to avoid controversy, but i have no prooblem if the other types of codex are used for vanilla marines or even another unique chapter as long as your sure of the point value according to the codex of that type of marine.

The RAW supports using your Dark Angels as Space Wolves just as much as it supports using your Dark Angels as Tyranids, there is simply nothing really dealing with it, either way you are counting your army as something that it is not.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

i disagree, as long as you only use the basic units and not units specific to that chapter of marines then they are for all intents and purposes the same thing with a different look. however if you used units individual to lets say space wolves that the da dont have then i say you shouldnt use it, but for the most part thats not the case

I started a new thread on the Space Marine colors topic.

Let this one just be for the Horrors. Sorry for derailing it in the first place.
