Fantastic models. Really putting other sculptors to shame.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Your dawi are truly fantastic. Going to get some of them for characters in my Dwarven army that I am working on in the coming year.

Lets see....Hammersmite as a character for my Hammerers, Britehammer would make a fun Thane, Wilhelm for my Quarrelers, and though you might not find it in Grudgebearer, a female Runesmith as Lafhelga. Expect an order soon!

I love the models, but am disappointed they are lead alloy casts. Lead-Free would be a better path.

Why is that a problem? Seriously, DON'T EAT YOUR MINIS. Lead exposure from minis is so tiny you would have to fondle hundreds of them for hours a day to have a problem.

Don't chew on them, and don't eat the dust from filing off mold lines. After they are painted, seal them with an extra coat if you are really paranoid.

You'll be fine.

Side Note: I intend to place an order for a few minis in the near future. Very nice Nordic figures, and several other great sculpts.

Many many thanks guys!

I am currently in the process of moving my production from one service to another. Once this process is complete the figures will all be 100% lead free.

If having lead in them keeps the costs down, then don't worry about it. As has been stated, there's so little lead in them that it's not really a problem.

Good to hear, in the mean time I would suggest, at a minimum, getting some legal info up about not for children under 13 due to the new CPSC rules that go in effect next month. Other lead laws are going into effect in other countries as well. Due to the lead paint commotion in young children's toys over the past couple years, the monitoring of lead exposure has a lot more attention drawn to it. You have some really great looking stuff and I wish you much success!

Clearly these are not toys for children, and I am just trying to provide some friendly advice. I do not wish to derail this thread, so if folks really want to discuss this further we can start a new thread. Having lead in the models means you must segregate the models and filing dust from children and pets. It is not being paranoid to bring this up, it is being realistic about the current social environment, legitimate health risks, and legal issues.

Here is some info for folks to start learning more about lead:

  • You should not be so quick to dismiss the hazards of lead nor the legal hysteria at this time. If you have lead in your minis then you need to make sure to clean up 100% of your filings if you do it in a home with kids.

  • Leaded alloys usually cast at a higher temperature then lead free alloys. This will burn out your molds quicker, resulting in higher replacement costs. The type of models being cast will have an effect as well, like deep undercuts in the molds. Saving a little on the alloy may not cut the overall pricing.

  • Learn about current lead laws, they have become very serious and one complaint can cost you a ton of money.

No problem tironum. I am paranoid about these thigns myself. I DO regularly send otu emails remindign my customers of the lead content of the models which have it and also that the figures are not intended for young children. I also have it orinted on my card inserts which are in all retail packaging. When I ship direct I pu tthe figures into baggies and pop a card into the envelop, but I suppose a blurb on the shop page would not go amiss either.

These are truly great models. My only thing is they are metal and I try to shy away from metals. But these models are so great I just may get them anyway!

I will let you know. Certain figures may take longer than others as I had to recently restock a few figures ( namely Bolverk, WoldVagner, Yrsa and the Helsvakt modulars )

However all parts numbered 31 and higher are 100 % lead free. I may be discontinuing parts RBG0002,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11. Not 100% sure but I may.

I now have a very nice wall of figures that I didn't have a year ago:

    -Red Box Games
    -Avatars of War
    -Ultraforge

We had a large group of guys up last weekend for a big tournament. Some of them had never seen anything from any of these companies, and it was funny to watch them as they looked at the figures.)

OK There have been some issues in the production of the latest Helsvakt Hordesmen that will hold their releaseuntilt he next round of figures is ready....which it almost is. I am working on the last two this week. Both are Njorn characters. One is a warrior with sword and shield... though he may become a modular I am not sure, and the other is a female ranger type...

I am somewhat hung up as to whether these should be adventurer types complete with packs and bedrolls, rope, etc. etc. Or should they be unit hero types free from the trappings of the long traveler.

BTW the new batch SHOULD have come in today but has not..... I expect I will have to run it down again tommorrow....

ANyway, thanks for takign the time.

    Hero types.
Most painters don't want to paint something that looks like an adventurer should look. They want to paint something that looks like we ENVISION an adventurer... which is without the trappings.

You could always make the extras separate, so they could be used, thrown out or (like most good modelers) added to something entirely different. : )
