Just to stir the pot a bit. My mech WiP is here, and is this what you mean by unique? http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/263363.page . I really should get some more pics done because I have most of it all but finished. I will also hold my hands up and hang my head with shame as I'm also well on my way to a flying circus with 5 hunter killers.

For my 1500 I take 2 Plasma Russ, a normal Russ, 2 Hydra, Vendetta, Melta Hellhound, 2x Chimera and Coy Cmd Melta plus Vets Melta and Vets Plasma, it's very strong but also surprisingly brittle at the same time. The list works well, for me anyway...

Bioware is planning to unveil the SR-3 Normandy, an actual real-life starship they will use to conquer Earth with the assistance of Bungie aboard the UNSC Marathon.

Okay i've been thinking and maybe a sort of Airborne Cadians would be more realistic and a nice camo scheme.

Somethng like this http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk133/cougarace/DSC02933.jpg

So now it's either heavy armor or airborne guard... Damn I change my mind so much.

I'm not really sure on what camo to pick. Because I usually play on a grass table I figur forest camo?

You could go wth ACU colored camo, then it doesn't matter if it's a forest or desert board- it'll stick out just as badly on either!

I've given this topic some thought...

Here are some of the kool IG configurations I have come up with... see if you like.

1) Wildman IG: Bit expensive, i know, but Cadian/Vostroyan/Valhallan bodies with heads and accessories from Space Wolves, WHFB Chaos Marauders, and WHFB Dwarfs with a slightly weathered paintjob would look kickass, like an army of well-dressed bikers and Deep Purple fans. Hell yes!
2) Skaven Guard: Also expensive, but what the hell. Skaven with imperial guard weapons. Their fuzz could be that they were a race enslaved by the Imperium who overpowered their slavemasters and stole their guns... something like that.
3) Use the models from one of Corvus Belli's Infinity factions or use one of the factions from Urban War by Urban Mammoth. A few of Urban War's Viridian strike teams should make your infantry unique and interesting...

Infinitya army (#3) is probably the most expensive, and probably has the least number of sculpts. You would probably do better to simply buy the OOP 2E metal IG (Tallarn, Valhallan, Mordian, Cadian, or Catachans). Failing that, you could consider oneo the other metal IG ranges (Steel Legion / Vostroyan / Stormtroopers / Kasrkins)

Skaven Guard (#2) is probably the most viable, as you can claim them to be Imperial Beastmen. The problem for you will be Lasguns - heavy guns will be easier, I think.

Wildmen based on Chaos Maruaders would be possible, but I don't like those models.

Consider primitive IG based on Empire Handgunners, though.

Good point. Steam tanks can make nice low-tech Leman Russes

Mostly, on my phone.

For mine, I'm using lots of recycled Urban War Viridians and/or Cadian heads with respirators and green stuff goggles (take two balls of green stuff, poke with toothpick shaped pin of choice). If you fancy, take a look at my army WIP and see if that floats your boat.

Thanks! I have a lot to think about now...

So, if you want the bullpup guns but cadian bodies, why not just buy the elysian weapons pack and use it with normal cadians? It'll cost you an extra £12 per squad, but if you're planning on having vets, you won't need too many squads, and you'll have a vast number of special weapon options.

As to the more recent wild-men idea, don't forget the Mordheim accessory sprue for those space-wolf-like hammer-wielding dudes, I can't remember what they're called but the sprue was really useful to me.

@ Kid-Kyoto - All my infantry are those perry twins napoleonics. Saves a lot a cash, adds a lot of time...

Run a whole lot of wfrp and other rpg's, play The Woods and Kill Team, gather and look mournfully at imperial guard knowing I'll never finish enough to use them on the tabletop
