We know that is not your website silly
you can string a sentence together.
Not necessarily a sensible sentence, but at least it is legible.

The interwebs cry. Next thing you know, someone will start a website where people argue about plastic toy soldiers in some wartorn future..... oh, wait.
Has anyone started a website debating how penguins aren't a creation of god, since they weren't mentioned as being on the ark? That's what the interwebs really needs, as much as I need a complete collection of The State on DVD.

Just penguins? What about the flatworms for the flat earth and all 1 mill species of nematodes?
that would be one long list of animals not mentioned
or was there a cover all generic term such as, "all beasties that crawl, slither, walk or fly"?
but that is another thread.

There was a sketch from The State where a catholic boy was saying he wouldn't go to the penguin exhibit at the zoo because they were obviously created by man after the Great Flood, since the bible doesn't mention Noah saving any penguins.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

mattyrm wrote:Of course they are serious. As serious as those who think we rode dinosaurs to school 4000 years ago, but we killed them off after Noah took them on the ark. I suspect many flat earthers are people that deny it because somewhere in the bible it says the earth was a flat disc with a firmament above it. You can make yourself deny anything if you are willing to ignore obvious physical evidence because you think it cant coincide with your most passionately held beliefs. Leave them too it, because arguing with them seems to give their absurd position some sort of credibility. Ignoring the idiots entirely is a better strategem, unless they insist on knocking on your fething door of course. :-)
You will find that the Flat Earthers are a secular lot. Religion isnt behind it, besides both the Koran and Old Testament indicate the earth is round anyway. the New Testament makes no comment. I doubt even Westboro Baptists are Flat Earthers, they likely wouldnt be welcome anyway.
Flat Earthers are a counter culture to conventional science, it isnt taken seriously from without or within. They are there to puncture a few egos thats all. This is best indicated by the fact that Flat Earthers do not attempt to 'educate' children into following their theories, quite unlike religions and fringe scientific groups. I doubt many, if any, Flat Earthers are actually believe what they say, but they remain 'in character' whenever they are on topic.
Please remember the lengths Flat Earthers go to explain away such concepts as gravity and eclipses cannot be taken at all seriously. For example Flat earthers 'believe' the moon is a 32km billboard made of wood; eclipses are caused by the Antimoon, and gravitational forces exists because the flat earth is being subjected to constant acceleration from the underside. Given an audience I am sure they will have some way to explain whats causing the acceleration. I can see how it would be fun to argue these points, as it takes a bit of front to do so.

Yanno, once, when I was a little kid, I was told that the Earth and all the other planets were swallowed by a GIGANTIC fish (a void whale perhaps?) Anywho, that sounds a logical as the flat people. Why not? Its not like anyone has gone outside and asked the giant void fish what the dilly O is.
I stick to this logic in life
