Sternguard are much better, so don't leave them out. With Pedro cantor if you like the idea, they're scoring too, and they pack an amazing punch. They've got a slightly higher leadership, which doesnt matter, but also an extra attack and tons of cool ammo. They stand a better chance in assault.

Makes me wish they would add a page in the rules on how to add your own character and have him get little special stuff like Calgar, Cantor, Shrike and so on get. I mean, who doesn't want scoring sternguard? but who wants to paint a bunch of dumb looking red fists either to be able to do it? Maybe I'm just against special characters in general due to childhood issues with authority.

I like their ammo and such, just don't like the whole 'you should add pedro to make 'em count' sort of idea. Lot of marine lists I've read have used some kind of superleader to add their punch. Does anybody even use a plain ol' captain without a name and maybe got lucky enough to earn himself a powersword?

I have played an all infantry list (purely for fun) and it gave my opponent a hard time. Is this list hard hitting? NO! But 60 T4's and 3+ Armors are just hard to kill off, especially when mounted in transports. I think a fun type of list would be 3 drop podding tac squads and 3 in rhinos. A cheap HQ , a couple of vindis and upgrades for the squads.

The pods to drop on objectives, the rhinos to rush/consolidate onto objectives. The vindis to soak fire and put down some big blasts

Should be about 1850. The libbys would drop pod in with some tacticals. IDK, maybe nullzone w/ both and gate of infinity or force dome.

That right there is over half a company of marines.

That there looks entirely awesome. I don't have all the figs yet but good lord man thats some table space. I would drop a lib just for more models, but maybe that's being a tad too extreme. We've all heard of the green tide... This is the Blue tide?

Well, the thing is I had another 100 pts left over. For marines 100 Pts can be hard to fill. A possible suggestion would be drop a libby and run a dakka predator to fill out the third Heavy support slot. Maybe a couple of cheap Land Speeders?

This list took me 3 minutes to put together, then it inspired me to create a new planetstrike list for the next league at the flgs.

For 100 Points you can get 2 Multi-Melta Attack Bikes, which could give you a nice AT punch with a 36 inch threat range.

If you changed the Siege Shields to dozer blades and dropped the 2 PC's for ML's you could get 2 MM Land Speeders. IMHO, I feel like that would go more with the theme of the army as they can DS in with the last Drop Pod and pop off some rear armor shots. However, attack bikes may not be such a bad option as it feels more like a hit and run type unit instead of a suicide unit.

This is something I will have to play test.

I keep going back to the Sicarious Demi-Company list I made a while back (and you can probably find with some Searchy-Fu here). It's a mechanized battleforce with 3 Tacticals, 1 Assault, 1 Devestator, and Command Squad plus supporting elements.

(EDIT: Here's the link to one of them, I know there's another 1 or two Demi-Company versions I've posted, but I can't find them at the moment - http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/233079.page#610622)

I've used super-killy Deathstar lists, and I like them, but I have much more fun with such a robust force, so I keep pulling that list out for my fun games.
It's not as deadly, that's for sure, but then again, it's never lost 600 points to a Meltagun and a truck full of lasguns like the Deathstar list has.

So many "cheap" targets that are still tough as nails gives you a lot of forgiveness room, too. In a game where everything dies, sometimes it's really nice to have all that resilience.

It looked like a fun list. My only real quarrel I have with that list is that Sicarious is known for drop podding. Looks like a very different approach to playing marines. MUCH different than mine as I play a Vulkan armored spearhead.

Well I pulled it off...

cappie @115 (cuz the fig has a sword)
5 basic tac with ML + FL (4 borrowed squads cuz I'm lame) @850
1 rhino (home-made, sorry no fig, cuz I'm lame) @35
=1000 points. damn easy list math at least.

All the tac's were combat squadded out so I could cover the whole board with a potential missile shot, and a potential sarge+flamer charge if it got too close to the missiles, but other than that it was just stand and shoot.

unbelievable slaughter on da green tide (which looked to me like 3 AoBR boxes put together) The missile launchers all fired at the deffkoptas first, then the nobz, while the other half was just bolter bolter bolter and I used 2 flamer templates in the whole game and only got in 1 close combat. Maybe I got lucky, but I made a lot of saves, and I only had to worry about the rokkits on the deffkoptas as far as stuff that I can't save against, so once they were out of the way, I kind of just stood there and shoot as he tried to advance. This was a very unbalanced battle I think, because bolters kill orks.

I do believe I was lucky because he didn't have any heavy armor, just some nobz that were a bit persistant with their painboy, and he didn't have much AP other than the deffkoptas and some heavy sluggas that I could still save against. I didn't really even need the rhino.
